Rowena Ravenclaw Caught Breaking Curfew
Obviously Rowena Ravenclaw was a founder of Hogwarts, but can you imagine what she might've been like as a student? I can just imagine a young Rowena sneaking out of bed to go and stargaze in the Forbidden Forest (and maybe sneaking a glass of wine or two with a romantic interest at the same time). Or perhaps this was Helena, her daughter? Either way, the minute I spotted this dress at a vintage shop, I KNEW I had to get it. Having recently found out I'm a Ravenclaw and not a Hufflepuff, I've been inspired to do more shoots that represent my new House. Do you know your Hogwarts House?
Reading up on Rowena Ravenclaw was a lot of fun. She was from the glens of Scotland and born sometime in the 10th century. Teaming up with her friends Helga Hufflepuff, Godric Gryffindor, and Salazar Slytherin, they set out to found one of the world's best schools for magic. It's a popular theory that the name and location of Hogwarts was chosen by Rowena - she had a dream that a warty hog was leading her to a cliff by the lake. She also came up with the ever-changing floor plan.
As Harry Potter fans know, Rowena selected her students based on intelligence and wisdom. She was one of the most brilliant witches of her time. To this day, Ravenclaw House values a sharp mind, wisdom, creativity, and cleverness in their members. From her statue in Ravenclaw Tower and Xenophilius Lovegood's bust of her, we know Rowena was beautiful yet austere-looking and intimidating woman. She was tall, had pale skin, dark eyes, and long black hair.
She had a daughter named Helena, and in a fit of jealousy, Helena stole her mother's well-known diadem that enhanced the wearer's widsom. While Rowena ended up dying of a broken heart from the betrayal, I like to believe she crossed paths with her daughter and they were able to make amends.
Obviously this post was made for my Harry Potter fans, haha but either way I hope you enjoyed this fantasy-inspired shoot.
