Dear 2016

Dear 2016,
You've been a busy year. One of growth, new experiences, and adventures.

It started off a bit rough. My mom was rushed to the hospital after suffering a stroke. For my 22nd birthday, she was released, and it was the best gift I could've asked for.
I worked with more brands like Memebox, Tobi, and Studio Gear Cosmetics. It really helped me create higher quality content on both my blog and YouTube channel.
I met up with a fellow blogger in the area for the first time and made a new friend.
I got to travel to Australia for a week during spring break, and it further ignited the traveling spark that's always dwelled inside me. Gazing up at the iconic opera house, strolling across Harbour Bridge, and getting stranded an extra two days in that beautiful country had me hooked. I'm officially a wanderlust victim.
I took a weekend trip to Vegas with some friends, and that was memorable if only because on my first night experiencing the adult side of Sin City, I had my debit card, ID, and cell phone stolen. Guess I'm just not meant for the party life. I still want a redo trip though!
But a huge impact in my life this past year, would probably be the solo trip I took to Belize. Though everything seemed to go wrong getting there, I'm glad I listened to my gut and went anyway. My original travel companions were unable to make it, a tropical storm formed (which turned into a hurricane), and I missed the last flight out of the city. Yet God made his presence known to me during this, and I felt his protection encompass me through it all. It was a beautiful trip, one spent rebuilding with the community there, dancing with strangers, snorkeling through breath taking waters, gained an appreciation for reggae music, and spotted new constellations while swinging from a hammock.
I also got a new job. One that fits perfectly with what I want to do right now. I'm currently a ramp agent at the airport in Boise, and with it comes the incredible opportunity to travel. I can hop on a flight and go almost anywhere in the world now thanks to this job, and I am so, so grateful.
Since my hire date, I've taken two trips through these benefits, one to San Francisco and one to Orlando. And now I'm trying to plan another one in a few weeks, if only for a couple days to somewhere warm.

I've made new friends, deepened connections, moved to a new place, and hell, even went on a few dates.

2016, you've been a great year of growth for me. 2017, I'm ready for you.
