REVIEW // High Waisted Swimsuit

Well, here I am, baring my pale stomach in a two piece (AKA: a swimsuit style I never wear). Why is this? Well, I get incredibly uncomfortable with my tummy out on display. It's obviously not the firmest of midsections, and my muffin top game is top notch. However, when temperatures blaze past 90 degrees, you kind of stop caring about whether or not you've got washboard abs. I'm all about staying comfortable though, so this high waisted swimsuit maintains a balance between baring some skin and still keeping me confident.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate my body and love what it does for me. However, when you're constantly bombarded with images telling you you're not enough (not skinny enough, not pretty enough, not anything enough), it starts to affect you. I'm starting to shed that mindset and have been improving over the years though, and I'm finally to the point where I am comfortable enough in my own skin to wear a two piece. It's still a fairly modest one, but I prefer that style anyway.

So this swimsuit is from Dresslink (the same site I got that floral romper from!), and it's pretty decent. The bottoms are the best! However, I have a confession to make. That top you see me wearing? It's not the top they sent me. Want to know why?

Dresslink doesn't offer the option of choosing differently sized tops and bottoms for two-piece swimsuits. I ordered XL to be safe (which is perfect for the bottom half), but my boobs are definitely not XL. So! I am wearing my own black sports bra in these photos. You should've seen my laughable parading around in the original swimsuit top they sent me. It looked like I had bullet boobs and was ready to go to a Katy Perry concert or something.

Overall, Dresslink is a decent site, especially considering the low prices they offer, but don't expect top notch quality.

I hope you enjoyed this review! Remember - don't wear something because it's what's expected or demanded of you. Wear something because it makes you feel confident. You'll never regret that decision.

LOL I love you! You're precious. You look absolutely adorable and that pattern on the bottom "suits" (AHAHAH ALI YOU SO GOOD AT PUNS AHARHAR) your personality and style so well. I admire you for going for the high waisted trend. So so cute.

I'm the same way about baring my stomach. I'll tell you what, though. I've got abs and I still hate showing mine... I actually just ordered a one piece swimsuit from the internet yesterday, lol. So even if you were tinier or whatever it wouldn't matter how you feel about it, and I think we've just gotta learn to accept ourselves. Which is hard and junk. But I'm sure we can do it. Either way, proud of you for wearing this AND showing it on the blog! GIRL YOU HOT AND I KNOW IT.

I want a high waisted one as well, I know that everything is just fine with me and my body but when it comes to it, I still prefer to have some fabric over my midsection!
Thanks so much for your sweet words, they made my day!

Have a wonderful weekend,

I was too scared to wear a two piece until I was in my 20s. I am a ballerina. So... yeah people should not have fear! Everyone has something beautiful. :) On a related note though, why do swimsuit companies make it so that you have to order the same size top and bottom? I think most women aren't that "evenly" proportioned. I know I am much bigger on bottom than on top! Whatever, you made it work, so at least you have a super cute swimsuit bottom.

Dang, Linda! You're totally killing it. I had no idea that the black top wasn't from the original set. I really love this look, particularly how you balanced out that wild, fun pattern on top with that gorgeous statement necklace. The scenery is gorgeous too!

I also become self-conscious sometimes, especially about my big ol' muscular legs, but like we've agreed--as long as we're healthy, that's all that really matters. Besides, these bodies have held us up through some crazy challenges and workouts. They're strong, and they're beautiful. You go, Linda.

Haha, I also totally have the problem of different sizes on top and bottom--you're totally not alone. When I was ordering online, also from a sponsor, I also went with the larger size for the bottom. Hopefully the top still fits okay!

Anyways, your thrifting video was also really touching. The personal touch made it more meaningful, and the outfit part was so glam. I loved that last floral look!

I always have to buy different sizes tops and bottoms which is why I still haven't bought a swimsuit online - I don't know why its so hard to mix and match! (well, some sites do but I just can't pay over $200 for a swimsuit.). I think the black top with the patterned bottons is super cute, I would have thought they were a set if you hadn't said something!
I get feeling uncomfortable, for some reason bareing the stomach area feels really vunerable - I have crazy streach makes that won't go away no matter how hard I work out so I just said screw it last summer and started wearing two peices again. (and its felt pretty good!). Even with todays crazy standards you have a really killer body and its strong to boot - you look really cute and like you're having fun! (which is the most important part, that top looks perfect for playing at the beach! I think triangle tops are cute but whoa, its really easy to pop out of them!). Anyways, that was so rambling but I love how honest you are in your posts. :).

HEY WHATSUP HELLO!
Linda you look GREAT! So glad this was on the top of my Bloglovin' feed when I logged back on tonight after a long long break. I actually thought the necklace you're wearing was part of the sports bra--like it was the bathing suit top itself! Very clever usage of that I must say. I wear sports bras to swim in sometimes because you NEVER have to worry about them falling off. That's the real reason I'm not a bikini fan! Not like I am well endowed or anything, but strappy, tied-up sorts of things tend to not stay in place well...and I'm the kinda gal who likes to run and jump and cannonball and stuff, so bikinis won't do!

I must say, I'm a fan of those bottoms. They look super high quality! Also I think it's admirable that you write real legit reviews of sponsored clothing. I feel like so many bloggers just swoon about anything they get free so they can get stuff again. Your honesty>>>everyone else's fakeness.

again, you look great. PROUDA YEW for rockin' a bikini on the blog. Whenever I get back online in the blog world I wish we lived closer because I would LUV to hang with you in real life--you just keep it so real. I love it.

I'll be back to read more soon, I promise!

XOXO
Rory

I hear ya! Believe it or not, the world doesn't like you being too skinny too! I constantly get bombarded with comments that I am too skinny, don't look healthy, eat something cause you look like crap, etc.....stfu world, no one cares about your opinions! Seriously!
I personally think you are a hot piece of pie in this swim suit, hubba hubba! I love it! Sorry about the top, I often have problems with the boob area as well, damn it!
