Hehe. I'm so coooooool. NOT |
Velvet. Is anyone a fan of this texture?
Thus far, I have two items that are velvet in nature, and this top from Blue Vanilla makes up the second. When I unraveled the cute package they had sent it in, I brushed my hand against the fabric. I wasn't quite sure if I loved it or hated it. The print was gothic in nature and the texture was simultaneously rough and smooth at the same time. Obviously, it's won me over, because I can confidently say I love it. It makes me want to pair it with leather for a kaleidoscope of fall textures.
Unfortunately, my leather pants are buried in a box somewhere, undoubtedly with the rest of my fall wardrobe. I'll have to dig it out again! For now, this asymmetric skirt from Forever 21 will do. Paired with some cute booties, my hipster hat, and dark lipstick, I feel as if fall fashion is my spirit animal.
You know, lately, I feel as if this transitional time in between my stagnant, sluggish state remaining in one spot and moving to a new city has been one of preparation. It may be tedious and slow for now, but soon there are going to come some scary yet exciting changes. I'll be moving to a bigger city, no familiar friends or family, and a completely new experience. I'm nervous, but I'm also incredibly eager for it.
For now, though, I've been receding from the social scene that's to be found here at my community college. While the past year I threw myself into every activity and event that came along, I'm happily refraining from all of that. Instead, I'd rather focus on spending time with those close to me and doing things I wasn't able to do last year - such as getting out more, exploring local haunts, and reading. It's true that my work hours have increased, but with an extremely light class load, I've found I have a lot of free time. If used wisely, they can stretch into long enough chunks to be used for doing something productive and satisfying.
Here's to one last semester at this community college and dear little town I call home! I intend to enjoy this preparation period and fall in love with this place that I spent far too many years eager to escape. Because before you know it, time will run out, and it'll be time to move on.

You are so right, we spend half of our lives complaining about the place we live in and then miss it like mad when we move away. So enjoy every moment of your town although it's amazing to discover new places and people.
I love velvet and I this year velvet sneakers are soooo trendy here, in a variety of colours. There's also a lot of suede around this season. xoxoxo
