Vintage Thoughts with Wardrobe Shop: Mother of the Bride

Hello everyone, I'm here with Wardrobe Shop, a vintage style clothing store. Today we're going to be talking about weddings. Anyone have their big day coming up?

Let's not forget that this day is also important for the bride's mother! The mother usually wants to look her best and represent not only her daughter but also her family and what better to look her best than wear a stunner of a dress? We’ve outlined a few different styles of such dresses to help get your search off on the right track.

The first of many vintage factors of mother of the bride dresses is a full-length A-line silhouette with a sweetheart neckline. The A-line shape is literally the same shape as the letter "A." This is the style of most formal ball gowns. This full-length dress reaches all the way to the floor. The sweetheart neckline has two curves that plunge in the middle, meeting at the cleavage area.

Another vintage mother of the bride dress style  is the fit and flare. This type of dress is usually knee length or a little bit longer and cinches at the waist and flares at the bottom. This dress usually has a swooping or crossover neckline.
