LIFE LATELY // This Summer, I...

Hey guys, remember that series of posts I did off and on called Life Lately?
I'd sit down and type my heart out for the world to see, all while keeping it carefully shielded in real life. I stopped doing that, and while I find it necessary to keep things more balanced, I miss the rawness of my old blogging voice.

However, I find that quite frankly, who's really interested in these? So I slacked off and slowly let it die. But for the few of you who actually read my lengthy posts, this is for you.
Plus, I have a horrible memory, so this is mostly for me. Hey Future Linda, you're welcome.

This summer, I did a lot. Currently, I am sitting in my new apartment, in the midst of returning to school, but summer is just a hop, skip, and a jump from my mind. I re-grouped and re-settled far too quickly back into an old life.

As some of you know, I moved back in with my parents over the summer to save up money and even got back my old job as a barista at the same coffee shop.

However, I also did new things.

This summer, I:

-Ran my first 5K. Two of them in fact. I'm already counting on signing up for more in the future. Dirty Dash, round 2, here I come!

-Started my Youtube channel! I'm so glad I did too. It's a lot more work and effort to edit videos than blog posts/photos, but my need to create is incredibly satisfied with every video that turns out. In fact, it's inspired a whole new cog of ideas that are churning in my mind.

-Went on my first ever grown-up road trip. That's right. My friend Saff and I saved up and took off on a road trip to the Oregon coast all on our own. We're such big kids now (check out the roadtrip posts HERE and HERE).

-Ate less meat. While this wasn't an official goal, it just kind of happened. I'm interested in becoming a vegetarian, but it's a slow journey for me right now. We'll see how it goes. So far, I'm pleased with how much meat I've cut out of my diet though!

-Started doing graphic design jobs. My work at the local coffee shop gave me opportunity to start designing the specials posters, which led to the owner asking me to re-design the menus (which he paid me for too). Now I've been offered the opportunity to keep making their specials posters even while I'm in Boise! Yes!

-Saw a ton more people in concert, including: Foster the People, Lindsey Stirling, Halestorm, Ingrid Michaelson, and Imagine Dragons (again)! Not to mention, their opening acts were phenomenal and introduced me to even more artists I want to support!

-I've noticed in small ways how my self-confidence has been growing. From learning how to disagree with people and hold my own viewpoints to dealing with necessary confrontations, I feel much more at ease in my own skin.

So while this summer flew by far too fast (as usual), it was time well spent at home. I'm happier about this upcoming year in Boise now! I've landed a job as a barista at a new coffee shop that's very low-key with a cool vibe. I think it'll be a perfect fit, and I enjoy the environment and co-workers so far! This semester is devoted to more marketing/business classes along with my first official studio class in Graphic Design. It's definitely going to be another year of growth. Wish me luck!

xo, Linda

Augh! You have done so much! Look at you, you productive little lady! It's so good to list things out and realize how much you actually have accomplished, isn't it? I actually think you've inspired me to write down just what I've done so I can feel better about my summer accomplishments. You keep rockin' on, all right? :D

I actually love reading lengthy posts!

It's so wonderful that you've grown more confident in yourself. I'm still learning how to, but I'm sure I'll get there one day. How was Lindsey Stirling live?! And ooh, it's so great that you're interested in turning vegetarian! I made that decision nearly two years ago and I've not looked back since! Do update us on how that goes.

It sounds like you had a lovely summer, and I wish you all the best for the new season! <3

You definitely did a ton with your summer! I've been wanting to try one of those types of 5Ks, I did a Color Run this year, and I really like the more interesting, "themed" runs as opposed to straight up running. I think I have to trick myself into exercising.

Hopefully your school year is as fun as your summer!

Looks like you’ve had a super busy summer. I always want to do a lot but always end up sleeping the whole time. Oops... & I totally get you about the blogging voice. Sometimes I wonder if people can actually read because they always seem to miss out words part of posts. I guess people are just more image orientated. Don’t let it change your blog though! There’s always some people that love to read what you write!
