Desert Dreams

Tank: Forever 21   Shorts: AE   Sandals: Just Fab   Necklace: c/o Estarer
So I didn't get to rave about these shoes the last time I wore them on the blog (I got a little sidetracked by the shorts that time...), but this time, they're getting all the spotlight. How fabulous are they?? I don't regret my membership with Just Fab at all. They may take my money, but I give it to them happily in order to get beauties like these on my feet.

The sweet spot in shoes is discovering a pair that not only looks fabulous, gives you just the right amount of height, but is also comfortable to walk in. Now, I don't recommend these for exploring trails near a canyon (the things fashion bloggers will do for the right location for a post...), but they were perfect for a day of short classes. Not to mention, they received many compliments.

I had a funny, honest, and in-depth conversation with one of my professors last week. It was my Spinning/Humanities teacher, and she's helped fan the flames on my desire to travel. She's done a lot of traveling in her time, and she enthusiastically told me, "You would love Paris. Just walking through the city is experiencing art." I ended up spending about an hour in her office, talking about her travel experiences and getting ideas on how to do it myself. It may not be my time yet, but I have a better sense on where I would go and how I would do it. One of the tidbits of advise she shared is still ringing through my mind.
"Buy a round trip ticket, and once you get there, don't stress over planning out your entire time there and where to stay. Where there's a will, there's a way."
By the end of our talk, I felt incredibly blessed to have a professor who cares so deeply.

"I'm rooting for you girl," she told me. "You're smart and so well-rounded - you can do it!"

On top of travel talk, we got on the topic of shoes...she's seriously the coolest teacher ever. Haha, she's tall and still enjoys wearing wedges and heels, despite all the crap she gets over it.
#TotalInspiration

So I think today's quote is perfect:

"Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life."

PS: Also, I'm entering a scholarship competition from Sorel, and you can check out my video (and hear my voice for the first time ever haha) here. The official rules said we couldn't use music, so it felt awkward, but it's just my voice overlapping the clips. I'm so grateful to Corina for helping me film this! Anyway, it shows off my campus quite well for the 90 second, maximum length we were allowed. Check it out and tell me what you think! :D

Aaaaw, isn't that sweet of your prof?! It's the best feeling when you can just stop in your professors offices and talk to them for as long as you really need. That's one thing I love about my art department--teachers are more like your companions and friends than they are your superior! But they're still your superior, lol. But I think Paris would be such a suiting place for you, Linda... so are you considering it? ;)

Those heels are darling yet again! And this look is so casual cute and breezy. :) Rad photo location, too!

Great sandals. Shoes are really important, they can actually make or break an outfit. If you get the chance to travel, then do it, you'll never regret it and your teacher is right, you would totally fall in love with Paris and if you get the chance you must visit London and Rome. The video is so cute and I love your voice.

THE MOCKINGJAY PIN!!! You are the coolest person I know! And you are correct, those shorts are complete beauties :)

We are planning on going to Paris this winter (fingers crossed!) and it's really easy to find reasons not to go. My main advice is to only concentrate on your reasons TO go.

oh, the view is breathtaking! I never had that good head for heights, but at the same time such views are always attracting me a lot:) The place is amazing! You looks nice too, your sandals are so great, that's true!

That is a pretty killer view up there, it seems like your state has such a wide variety of terrain - that must make it fun to take pictures with so many places to explore! Totally agree with you on shoes with heels, I have a few pairs of three inch, thicker heels that are just as comfy and easy to walk in as flats, the stilettos though, they are a challenge.
I think you would have an amazing time traveling and your professor gave you some great advice, I know I'm late in getting back to you on this but I can a few friends you taught English classes in France and Spain (they were all in their second years and third years of collage as well) and by teaching English they had a lot of flexibility in traveling around but still had money for it. We traveled to Mexico a while ago and aside from one obligation, we didn't have any plans or reservations and just drove along the coast. It was pretty amazing and learning a little of the language of the country you're going to visit beforehand does help locals open up to you. :)
