Crop Tops & High Waists

Top & Bag: Rue 21   Skirt & Vest: Forever 21   Watch: c/o Feral Watches

I've had this crop top sitting in my closet for ages just waiting for the weather to warm up. Well, the day finally arrived when I'd had enough. It was time!

So a problem I discovered was that this crop top likes to turn into a sports bra throughout the day...haha, it's constantly riding up. Ah well, for a day, it wasn't too bad. I wore this to explore downtown a bit and hit up a new cafe with my mom. It's quite spectacular in my opinion, and I'm certain it will turn into my new favorite place for brunch. In fact, I'm hoping to return and get some photos there when it's not so busy perhaps. The center pieces on their tables are classical books tied up with a ribbon!

Mother and I ordered strawberry Nutella crepes there, and goodness, those went down way too fast.
Yup, definitely going back there soon! I need to try their Nutella mocha next...

So remember when I mentioned I became the talk of Senate when I disappeared upstairs with a boy? (Read more about that here). Well, one late night, I went to the Senate offices to work on homework and ran into some of the boys while there. One pulled up a chair next to me and leaned in.
"So, what happened with you and that guy during the Masquerade Ball?"
Another head popped up from the cubicle next to me to join the conversation.
"Yeah, whatever did happen anyway?"
Out of the corner of my eye, a third face leaned in to hear more.

Seriously guys? We're doing girl talk right now?

I wasn't sure how to explain it when I wasn't even certain what went wrong myself. But I'm a person who figures things out by talking it out, so as I tried to put it into words, I found them.
"I like getting to know someone as friends first. To start things right off the bat by telling them, 'You're so beautiful' places these expectations on what a person wants from you. If we're friends first, it's a more genuine connection."

There are so many beautiful girls in the world. Honestly, I walk campus daily and see gorgeous faces everywhere. What I've concluded is that physical beauty is everywhere - there are so many lovely women in the world, each a unique blend of features. It's easy to start the comparison game, and we need to realize we'll never win that. There will always be someone prettier/taller/skinnier/curvier/etc. than you. However, when I meet a guy, I want to meet someone who's interested to get to know what's under the surface.
Someone who can make me forget the person from my past that still seems to haunt me.

Right now, this is my jam:

eeks. Crop tops riding up does not seem like a fun problem. Oy.

I'm still debating on getting a crop top. I just don't know if I can really enjoy wearing it, despite how much I think it looks good on others! I'm just so self-conscious!

You rocked this look Linda, the cropped top looks uber chic on you, and loving the monochrome print mix. Still crushing on your fringed bag. Completely agree with you, its whats on the inside that counts. I appreciate your kind words, Have an awesome weekend doll!

You seem so wise for your age, honey. One of the reasons Jordan and I made the choice to wait for marriage was because we wanted to be sure we were only getting married for what was on the inside. Of course, everyone is different, but it seemed to work for us. :D

On a happy note, your pattern mixing is swell and you really know how to work a crop top. Long live warm weather!

love,

Agh I hate when crop tops ride up, it's the worst. But yay for warm weather and being able to wear it. I like how you mixed the two b&w prints.

The cafe sounds so cute! The book center piece idea is very adorable-- and mmm nutella crepes.

those Nutella crepes sound amazing even to me who is having the worst flu right now and I can't even feel the taste of things :P anyway, this one here is a very "you" look I think. exactly your style ;) and a crop top combined with a high waist is again something worth trying. perfect for a hot summer day.

Totally agree with both of your points.. First, crop tops, yes they do ride up. But I found that crop tops with garters on the hem work better. I'm wearing one on my next post wait for it haha. secondly, i also agree that no matter how perfect you are, there will always be someone more perfect. but it's important to be with people who appreciate us for being us and not our appearance. =)

happy weekend Linda!

I love crop tops, especially with high waisted garments. This one is particularly cute because I love the stripes. Great look Linda.

DUDE. YES. UGH. YOU ARE PERFECT. What's with the whole "oh girl you're so beautiful and cute" like that's not a compliment to me because one day I might be more chubs and wrinkly and not cute. I will tell people eventually that yeah, they're beautiful and have wonderful eyes, etc, but I always do my best to point out personality traits like how funny someone is, their excellent vocab and vernacular, or their kindness. Also people are conscious about their looks and idk ALWAYS COMPLIMENT PERSONALITIES OVER LOOKS I SAY! Yeah. You basically ruled it with this post.

And yes, this outfit is perfect, too. Orange and black and white and GOOOLD EARRINGS! Yes all da way. I love you, Linda!

I am loving you in this crop top! You definitely need to wear more crops, because this looks great on you. And good for you for being picky about boys. And seriously, they love to gossip just as much as girls do, don't they? Haha

And you deserve such a guy. Every person deserves someone who'll look beyond the exterior. But the thing is, usually the person who does, finds the exterior to be the prettiest. Love works in mysterious ways.;)

I cannot not say how cool your outfit is!!! I want that skirt of yours, just so you know!
