SLIDER

Not My Type

Tank: JcPenney   Skirt: Forever 21   Bag: Rue 21   Boots: Just Fab
This cheeky tank earned a hearty chuckle from my Spinning instructor when I wore it to class. She's simultaneously my online Humanities instructor and I've taken Spinning from her in the past, so we have a pretty good relationship as far as instructors and students go.
"Well honestly, how do you expect to meet anyone now with that top?"
"Oh this? I bought this after that awful date. I've given up now. Also, if I run into him on campus, I'm keeping this around to whip out whenever I need it."

I should know better than to agree to go window shopping with a friend. Window shopping rapidly turns into actual shopping for me...which is how I landed this cute new muscle tank! I also picked up another tank similar to this, which I'm sure I'll be showing off soon.

This skirt is something I instinctively added to my cart while browsing Forever 21 a while ago. The wrap design and asymmetrical hem had me hooked! However, this is the first time I've actually worn it. The shortness of it definitely makes me self conscious...while I love it, I think I'd be comfortable if I wore tights with it. This may have to be set aside until next fall rolls around.

Anyway, speaking of types, you know what isn't my type?
People who are so incredibly self centered they will do or say anything that makes them look good. People who have inflated egos because of their position and put others down because of this. People who love to feel in control and go on power trips because of this.

Don't be this type of person, okay?
If you accomplish something, be humble.
If someone can't be as successful because of the large number of things they have on their plate, be understanding. Condescension is not necessary.

If there's anything that working with a group has taught me, it's that these types exist. Though abrasive and difficult to get along with, you can learn from them.
You can learn what not to be like.
All I would like to say is: "Yes, you are better at this than me. But you know what? You're not a better person because of it. And I think that's where you need to reconsider your priorities."

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Proverbs 16:18-19

Ugh, inflated egos that's one of my pet peeves, I can't stand arrogant people. Humble is definitely the right way to go about things. Although, I think that can sometimes cross over to the lack of confidence which is a negative personal trait too, but I can work with that. But the opposite end of the spectrum - no, thank you. I'm not even going to waste my time getting to know you better. You love yourself too much? BYE. Not my type.:) Can I please have your top???:D

That is a fun tank :)

I like the texture on the skirt too - it will be perfect with tights in cooler weather! :)

I'm totally with ya...humility goes a LONG LONG way. There's something to be said of a person who can accomplish a lot without having a huge ego. By no means be a push over but, please don't make me feel second-rate in the process.

Anyway, on to your look. Super fun. I like the playfulness of the shirt. You should wear what you want. even on a date! =D

No Linda, definately do not put the skirt aside until fall rolls around again, it looks great on you without tights and it's certainly not too short. The top is so cute and I love the way you've paired the outfit with the booties.
Happy Sunday hon!

Hahaha window shopping always translates to purchases for me also. I think that's why I prefer online shopping. It gives me time to contemplate if I should or shouldn't rather than holding it in my very hands!
