Jogger Pants

Pants & Wallet: c/o Shop Lately   Tank & Heels: thrifted   Clutch: c/o Too Sexy Store   Jacket: Forever 21
My reaction whenever I get money. When I waitress my guests probably think I'm insane...
Last Sunday was quite a fun one, since Kirsten and her sister, Sage, came into town and we decided to get some photos done. Naturally, it was a day where the clouds closed in and some rain hit us. However, we toughened it out and had a blast getting some creative photos. These are my blogger ones featuring the new jogger pants and cute wallet I received from Shop Lately, and I have to say, having a trend where you get to basically wear sweats out? I am all for that! Since we went out to eat beforehand, I decided to dress these pants up with some chunky heels and a clutch, but honestly, it just felt like I was wearing my pj's out.

Also, how adorable is this wallet? It draws comments all the time, and I love that it has so many pockets and card holders. The little world map embossed in gold on the front flap is the perfect touch. Anything that has a travel theme tends to draw my attention!

Towards the end of the shoot, my feet were exhausted from climbering around on the rocks and I ended up slipping off my heels and walking around barefoot. It was quite a fun day for photos, and we all ended up slipping our ridiculous shoes off. My poor mother is probably viewing these photos fretting over how cold and wet my feet worries mom, I'm fine!

This semester is going by fast, and it's left me wondering what exactly it is that I'll do next. I'm finishing up at a community college, and the plan was always to go straight to university. I already have a school in mind that would provide the right price and quality education, and yet, I hesitate. It's already past priority scholarship deadlines for the fall semester, and I haven't even applied yet. I can't quite bring myself to go through the process.

How many times have I said that this past year was one of growth? Many, many times. Throughout it, I've watched a lot of my friends grow as well. They've settled down, gotten married, and have already started a family. Nothing was quite as marvelous as visiting one of my childhood friends in the hospital, and watching her cradle her newborn daughter in her arms.

Despite witnessing such precious moments, it's made me realize my dreams of travel once again. When will that happen? Will I put it off until the opportunity is long past? As I watch my friends growing up and settling into their new lifestyle, a fear engulfs me that I will do the same. That I will take the safe route, go on to a University, end up meeting someone there, get a post-college office job, settle down, and let my traveling dreams fade away.

Do I dare do the unspeakable? Do I risk the slacker option of "I'm just going to take a year off from college," and end up never going back? We're always warned about how that pans out. My education has and always will be important to me, but as I face this upcoming decision, my heart is pulling me towards a different type of education. One that takes place on faraway continents and enriching experiences that I know are just waiting for me.

So much to love about this! I love pants that are cut that way. I just think they're so flattering and fun and the shoes you paired with it are perfect. Plus, what a cool leather jacket! I love the cream color of it!
Also, it's just my opinion, but I think that if you have a passion to travel that you should do that while you're still so young! I don't, but my sister definitely does and she just recently went on a year long mission trip to 11 different countries in 11 months and she had an AMAZING experience. I've heard from older people that the one thing they regret most in life is not traveling while they had the chance to do so. You can always finish school anytime in your life, but travel opportunities don't come around as often when you're older.
Sorry, didn't mean to soapbox you! haha

I love jogging pants! They can be worn casually, or more dressed up like you did :) And who doesn't love $$/ the clothes they can buy ;)

You look so amazing! I absolutely love those pants - they looks so comfy, yet you really classed them up!

Also, if you want to take a year off, I say listen to your heart! There are many ways that you can take a year off easily. I think the best way is to find something that you really can't commit yourself to long term, if that makes sense. I know I'm doing a volunteer year between my undergrad and grad school - might be an idea!

Hi Linda, I don't even own a pair of jogging pants but after seeing how fabulous you make it look, I need to get one asap. Love how to styled it up with the sandals and bright clutch. So inspired!! I think every person moves at their own pace after school and different things make different people happy, to some that may be settling down and having a family and to others that could be travel and solitude. Thanks for your insightful comments doll!

GO TRAVEL, GO RIGHT NOW!! Haha I want to share with you my experience because I went through exactly the same thing you did once I graduated uni. I was in total and complete panic. Everyone on Facebook was either getting impressive jobs, moving into apartments, or getting married and i was just...lost. And I'm still kind of lost but I'm slowly starting to see a plan come through. One of the best things I did since graduating though was traveling. Once you get out of your little world and are submerged in this new, strange place your heart just opens up. Like, you see the real world and realize just how amazing it is and how anything is possible. I definitely think I'd be more lost now than I was before if I never went traveling- and I haven't even been to that many countries yet! Your plans will still be here when you get back home, trust me. And you'll be so much more wiser and focused once you do :)

Whatever you decide will be alright, darling. You have a very wise head on your shoulders. I have no worries. :)

I'm not a big fan of the sweatpants trend but, of course, you make it look effortless and trendy.

Dude, these pictures are awesome! I love that you guys went on a little journey and I especially enjoy that last little snapshot of you guys without your shoes on. Too fun and it says so much!

There is definitely nothing wrong with taking a year off. I think with someone as motivated as you, getting back on track wouldn't be a problem. I know many who have done it and they're always glad that they did it, if that helps your decision any. It is weird seeing our friends grow up and getting married and such, but not everyone has to travel the same path. :)

Aha, so these are the comfy pants! You totally rock them. :)

About school, rather than take a year off, have you thought about studying abroad? I know there are some crazy amazing and cool art programs out there and it would be a really great way to travel, finish schooling and also gain (in your art and photography) some different perspectives. I did take a year off right before I graduated due to not having enough money(i paid out of pocket for my schooling and my living expense) and it's taken me 5 years so far to finish up the last 10 credits I needed. If I could have afforded to, I would have never stopped and just gotten it done with. It's hard to get back that momentum and the money, she is a pain. there's always other things to spend it on. I think you would have such an amazing experience studying abroad and every where in Europe is so close, all you need to do in hop on a train for few hours and you're in another country. (And again, studying art in Europe? How amazing would that be?) Good luck with whatever path you choose, I'm sure you'll make a ton of memories no matter what.

Man, did I even talk about how awesome your photos are today? I freaking love that location!

I think that going to university and working doesn't mean you can't travel. definitely not. because how can one travel when he/she doesn't have a decent job that produces enough money for living and for travelling and everything in between? usually, when someone takes a year off they get used to the time off and don't want to go anymore. I know several people in that situation. but then again, people are different and everyone has to no their limits and personality. oh and I love the background of your photos! and this stylish and sharp look as well.

oh yes! those pants are the best of both worlds: comfort and looks! Can't go wrong with that!
Especially with al the scholarships things going on, you must be considering going traveling much more! Hopefully it all works out for you. Maybe you can do an exchange? You'd get the best of both worlds!

Linda, I love this outfit! You look so chic and sophisticated!

I know your exact dilemma with education and your heart pulling you elsewhere. I ended up dropping out of college to tour all across the country and do merch for a band. Now, four years later, I'm planning on going back to college in the fall. Follow your heart. School will always be there, and it's never too late to settle. I say go and travel now while you're young! I took four years off from college, and now, at 25, I'm ready to go back after getting some of that wanderlust out of me. Pray about it. I know you'll be great no matter what you decide to do. :)

Gorgeous orange clutch! Don't be afraid of the big decisions - going to uni, settling down with someone. I did all those "normal" things that I was so afraid of too and I've discovered they're wonderful, and I'm still happily travelling the world. This year alone I'm going to 4 countries I haven't been to before - and that's only what's been booked so far! If you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to keep doing it ;)

I definitely need to get some jogger pants! They look ridiculously comfortable for lazy days!

Have you looked into studying aboard? Or maybe even teaching English abroad? If I could start my university career over I would totally have taken a year off to do that!

At one point, I was in the same situation. it's ok to now know what to do, it's completely normal. but if you ask me, i think you can find balance between what you are supposed to do and what you want to do for yourself - you know you can go to university and still be able to travel, Linda. you are so young and have so much time to do everything on your to-do list. personally, i wouldn't recommend taking a year off school, maybe a semester would do because i always think that once you stop, it's so difficult to get back on track. a few months should be enough for some fun, short-distance travels, and to make long-term life goals. but of course the final decision is always up to you. i hope that whatever you decide, you'll choose what will make you happy/. =)

You only live once, Linda. Go where your heart tells you. It is ok to take a whole year of break to do what your heart desire. I once took an almost 1 year break when I quit my previous job and I really relish the break away from all the stress at work.

I'm curious to know how old or young are you especially when you say you're going to the university and some of your friends are already married with kids. Makes me wonder if it is common to start a family young over where you are.

Off to something less serious. Gosh, I love how all of you took off your shoes and "danced in the rain". Sometimes it is good to embrace the wilder side of things. And the back view there reminds me of Sex and the City. Lol... minus 1.

I haven't gotten a chance to comment in what feels like forever, but I absolutely love this! These pants look SO cute on you, and I am really digging the jacket and wallet. Ha, walking around barefoot like that looks like tons of fun.

And I hope you figure out what you're going to do! I think that either way, as long as you commit and make guidelines for yourself (like if you can trust yourself to go back to school and not just sit on the couch all day if you take a year off), you'll be fine. I'm about to graduate, and I often regret not taking time to travel since I don't know if I'll get the chance now. Have you thought about studying abroad? Then you could do both!
