Open Ankles

Bag: c/o Surfdome   Jacket: BB Dakota   Jeggings: AE   Boots: Just Fab   Earrings: c/o Shop Lately
As a college student on the go, it's handy to have your laptop with you at all times - the problem is finding a bag that fits it with style! So when Surfdome agreed to collaborate with me, I was pleased to see their laptop bag selection. This paisley print one had good neutral colors and I figured it would go with a lot of day-to-day outfits. It comfortably fits my little laptop and charger, and it easily accomodates any of my school notebooks.

I've seen many outfits by fashion bloggers featuring cut out booties, and I was quite taken by the style! So when Just Fab finally added a pair to their selection, I knew right away which ones I'd be ordering for the month. These are going to be a fun pair to add to my impressive boot collection!

So remember my work situation? I thought I would be leaving Golden Corral behind, but after making about $100 in tips both nights I worked as a waitress (in just 5 hours? Um, yes please), I couldn't bring myself to quit. I mean, even if I only work there one or two nights a week, that'd be great! So it looks like I'll be working two part time jobs, one as a waitress and one as a barista.

I wore these milkmaid braids to one of my waitressing shifts, and I got a lot of compliments on it, and one in particular stood out. It was from an elderly man, the type that was sweet and not creepy.
"You know, your hairstyle reminds me of photos of my mom. She pinned her hair up in the exact same way!"
I laughed and replied, "Well, she must've had good taste then, because you know that good style lasts forever."

I'm just picturing all the ladies from the past rocking these braids, and to be someone who still keeps them "modern" is something that's really cool to do!

Oh, and you'll always get the Princess Leia comments if you wear this hairstyle out.Just saying...it's nerdtastic to hear.

haha, Princess Leia! I can see why you'd get called out as that. YOUR HAIR REALLY IS SO CUTE THOUGH! I wish mine was thick and long enough to do more with, but it's really thin and not luscious hahaha.

"the type that was sweet, not creepy"--lol I continue to love your writing.

But onto your outfit--ah, how I love it! Those earrings are so fun and I love the texture of that loose cardigan.

Also, that's great that you decided to have two jobs. I'm sure you'll be able to balance them... especially since you make awesome tips from GC, wow! You can do it, Miss Linda!!~

I braid my hair all the time, very often like that...but when my friends make jokes usually they mention the jailed former prime minister of Ukrania and not princess Leia (not that I mind the comparison, Julia is a stunning women. I wouldn't mind the Leia comparison either because I have a thing for sf).

Anyhow, lovely outfit and a bag to match! Finding an outfit that will fit your laptop sure isn't easy!

Awww, you look so pretty with your milkmaid braids! It's a great way to showcase those amazing earrings too! And yeah, those great tips are the one and only thing I miss about serving, haha. It was hard to go from that to a set pay wage.

Well, that was a sweet compliment from the older dude, that wasn't creepy. lol

I have seen these boots at Forever 21 and H&M but I am not into them. That's fair, right? I mean, I can't love and envy everything you post, right? lol

Thank you for the wonderful words of my Monday ensemble. You inspired me on it so that's a good thing!!!♥

Maybe for American people this hairdo reminds of princess Leia, but for me this is typical hairstyle of ex prime minister of Ukraine:) Anyway, you look so pretty and charming as always:)
have a great day and good luck with your part time jobs)))

I have no idea who's Princess Leia but I definitely have to mention I love those braids (you know my endless love for braids anyway). oh and those booties. I must agree that it's quite a cool trend! usually I'm not a trend person but those booties are something I would wear. you should show them with a dress or skirt too, by the way ;)

I was going to comment on your beautiful hair-do before I read your post and now I love it even more. You said such a lovely thing back to the customer. Great style DOES last forever! =D

Keep at it with the jobs! I worked two PT jobs before too and while it can feel tiresome, it did at least give some mix-up to the daily grind. =D

I wore my hear in a bun one day and my grandpa saw me and couldn't stop complimenting me on it as if it wasn't something really special.:) I love older generations, they seem so much more appreciative out our efforts.:) You look great with the braids, dear, and since I know you're also kind and smart too, there's no wonder you got those tips!

I love your hairstyle and your reply to the compliment was great. Being a student I know exactly what you are talking about, I barely take my laptop to Uni as I don't have any bag that will actually fit it! Love the bag you choose.x Gorgeous earrings as well! Cut out boots look perfect with this outfit, I love seeing people wearing them and you paired them perfectly! Have a lovely day.x

haha, the Princess Leia thing is SO true! The last time I wore the milkmaid braids I got that comment from my dental hygienist (she's pretty awesome for reasons besides that, too). Plus, she thought I was a full 12 years younger than I actually am, and attributed it in part to the braids. Perhaps I'll just rock them every single day for the rest of my life :)
