Frosty Ombre

Hat: c/o Oasap   Blazer: thrifted   Tee & Jeans: AE   Boots: gift
Rose & Fox Ring: c/o Oasap   Turquoise & Silver bands: c/o Shop Lately
Our weather has been in a bit of a stump, with foggy, frosty mornings and cool sunshiney days. It's resulted in nature pulling it's own beauty trick and doing frosted tips. I love it! It makes for such a cool background.

I've gotten some new goodies from Oasap, one of them being this cute little hat. Emphasis on oversized skull is having troubles fitting into it. Either that or it's my hair. Every time I smash it back down, it slowly rises back up, my hair floofing up and pushing it off. Sigh. Which is too bad since I really love it!
At least the rose ring fits. I've been loving the look of stacked rings lately, so having a lot of silver rings go together creates a cool, boho look. Especially when you've got an awesome, turquoise statement ring!

The other day I received a special e-mail from Starbucks offering a free drink, no matter the size. So I went in, ordered a Venti sized (!!!!!) Java Chip Frapp, and practically skipped around for the rest of the day. Sometimes all you need is a frozen, chocolate-caffeinated treat to perk you up!

I'm not sure what it is that's got me so upbeat, but lately I feel so content and happy with where I am in life. I'm successfully living on my own, taking art classes that practically nourish my soul with creativity and inspiration, and have found several good friends that I can rely on for honesty. Something I've noticed that's different from last semester is that I've stopped looking for someone. I've stopped scanning classrooms, campus sidewalks, and any random public place for the man of my dreams. It's finally hit me that I won't meet him until I start focusing on myself. It's one thing to hear these things and agree with them, and an entirely different thing to accept it.

Right now is a time for me to grow and learn what it is that I love. Only then can I find someone who appreciates the woman I am - because then I will know who she is as well. This is my time to thrive, to go out and learn, to chase after the things I want, and travel the world!

It's always an uphill journey in discovering the difference between happiness and joy. Being happy is a fleeting feeling. The minute you hit a trial or frustrations, the bubbly feeling can fade. Being joyful is a sense that never leaves you. It fills you up, spilling into the cracks that might've been left behind by others and warms you inside out. I think that I've finally been finding the joy in my life - and it makes such a huge difference.

PS: (Oh, and remember how I shared that I dyed my hair? Well, it didn't really take as you can see. My hair gobbled up the red tint and laughed in my face at my pathetic attempt to try and tame it into something I wanted. So, challenge accepted, monster of mine. We shall see who wins this war. I'm redying it later this week after giving it over a week to recover. Hopefully this time I'll emerge the victor and get the dark red-brown hair I want!)

You look adorable! I just ordered some things from OASAP and I cannot wait for them to arrive. I'm very nervous about sizing... ordering online just always scares me until I know how a store fits! Bummer about the hat :(

Ah, it's been way too long since I've left a note here, Linda. I've been keeping up though!

First off, let me say that I've always admired how you often post about life-related things, like the friendship and relaxing post. That's exactly what I'm hoping to do more of this year! And I totally resonated with the "socially awkward" post. It was so easy to make friends when we were younger! I think we settle into familiar friend groups as we settle into school, but I wish it weren't so cliquey sometimes. And I love your boldness in making friends :) I'm glad to hear you're getting along with the new roommate! And I also totally agree that unplugging from social media is so effective to relax over weekends. I check habitually often, and really need to stop! One day, I refused to log onto instagram, and I instantly felt better. I'll have to plan more detoxes every now and then haha.

As for this look, you're gorgeous! Love the structured blazer with those edgy ripped jeans. And the balance of the hat and black boots is perfect. Sorry to hear the hat's too small! It's still cute and I can't even tell from the photos :) And the necklace is a timeless touch (hehe, puns, everywhere).

Glad to hear you've been happy lately! Good for you, putting yourself first. And haha, I remember that free starbucks instagram photo. What a pleasant surprise! Hope things keep looking up for you, dear Linda!

aw I think it's wonderful you're feeling so upbeat! It's not easy feeling content with where you are in life. So many of us are drawn to the comparison of life and life goals that it brings us down. I know since I do it too often that I start feeling negative. I think it's so much more inspiring to hear someone being upbeat about life! =)

YAY! I'm glad you're not seeking anybody out. Hey man, I've been happy for 20 years being single my whole life (really, no boyfriends ever lolol) and I'm doin' just fine! I think it's great that you're focusing on what's important--and hey, if someone does happen to come along, then that's just grand! But yay for happiness in Linda. Yay yay yay :D

Sorry to hear that your hat is too tiny! You must have too much of that lovely hair. You do have such thick, beautiful hair, you know! Hats can't even handle it. :)

These pictures are so pretty... look at that ice-crusted dreamscene behind you! *___*

i'm really happy (and joyful!) for you Linda!!! i couldn't agree more with what you've said!!! attaining happiness doesn't always means to be in a relationship with someone. Being contented and hungry for learning and always ready to try something new and nourishing your brain with new discoveries can really make one joyful! Plus, Having friends and family you can trust adds too!

btw, you chic and stylish as always Linda!!
