The Skater Skirt

Shirt & Bag: thrifted   Skirt: Rue 21   Jacket: Target   Boots: Just Fab   Necklace & Watch: c/o Shop Lately

When this skirt appeared on the $2 clearance rack at Rue 21, I pretty much yanked it out of the tangled web of hangers and all but dashed to the front to purchase it. I was a tad bit excited. A skater skirt with dark, autumnal florals printed on it? Yes!

So recently through Facebook, I've gotten some pleasant comments on my photographs that led to requests from acquaintances and friends.
"Would you do photographs for us?"

It's always a flattering thing to be asked, especially as someone who's getting more and more intrigued by photography. I won't lie, I've entertained a daydream of owning my own photography studio one day. Hey, who knows, right? When I did my teacher's wedding and she paid me an amount that I make in one week, it sunk in how people would actually pay me to do something I already love.

So I reached out to a local professional photographer in my area and asked for her opinion on pricing. She checked out my portfolio and said if I ever wanted to stop in her studio to chat some more, that'd be fine. I'm already looking forward to our talk! Who better to ask about this career than someone who's already done it, right?

Oh, and on a random note - CATCHING FIRE WAS AMAZING!

So happy for you! I've also been asked to take some photographs, but mostly for free. LOL :D I think you've got the eye so you've got the back of the lens covered! It helps to have a fashionable photographer too 'cause you know they'll give sound advice on what clothes to wear for the shoot.

Oh my gosh, I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU! You totally deserve this and I hope you pursue it whole hog and make money and live your dream. You really are a wonderful photographer. :)

This outfit is perfection. It's so late-back and yet elegant.

Have I ever mentioned that you have two super-cute moles in almost the exact same place? Every time I think you did some clever, super-fashion forward makeup trick. But it's just your face. ^_^

Yay! That's so awesome about your photography, Linda. You'd be surprised how many people can't take their own pictures lol, but hey, that's better for us! I've done a few family shoots for neighbors and friends and usually just let them pay me for how much they think it's worth... and usually it's a lot more than I could have asked for. x___x that's good that you're asking a photographer about it, though! GOOD LUK!

LUCK
can't spell

and your skirt is so super cute! *___* $2 is such a steal.

Two dollars for that skirt? Amazing!! God I love steals like that, they get my heart racing - is that sad? The skirt will also transition well into Spring and Summer.

So glad you're investigating and pursuing a passion! Can't wait to hear what happens for you.

Ah, Linda! You know how I'm a sucker for a good skater skirt--and at such a hoppin deal! (Pretend that's an actual adjective that people use haha). Of course you've managed to style it with that girly edge that's uniquely yours.

I've been keeping up with your blog, as always, so I'm happy to get the chance to leave a little note. Sounds like you've been busy, girl! And EEEEEEEEEEE! So excited for you about photography. You have such a creative perpective on things and I know you love it, which makes all the difference.

And oh, Catching Fire--I tried to go see it last week but tickets were sold out! Glad it got your stamp of approval; I'll try again soon!

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving! You'll be in my prayers and thoughts as well (:
