Roommate Remix: Burgundy Blues & Casual Cute

Guess what? It's another Roommate Remix post! I put this outfit together for Corina and chose her newly thrifted, embroidered skirt as the center piece. Isn't it adorable? It was best worn with a mostly neutral palette, along with her bright pink belt. I think it's becoming a signature item. Also, isn't her hair just perfect for fishtailing? I'm trying to teach her how to do it herself, but since she's still struggling, I ended up doing it for her. Seriously, someone should pay me for my services. Personal stylist and hair stylist! ;)
Dress: JcPenney   Kimono & Bag: thrifted   Boots: Urbanog   Watch: c/o Feral Watches
As for my outfit, I'm wearing that blue snakeskin kimono I mentioned a while back. Remember that time those snobby tween girls were dissing my thrift store? That's right, I found this beauty there that very day. Isn't it lovely? I love the sheerness and its deep blue shade. Oh, and are you as entranced by my new boots as I am?? They're a gift from Corina (so I guess I am being payed) and I cannot get over how amazing they are. The buckles! The gold tips! The maroon color! How perfectly it matches my bag! Ahhhhhmaaazzzziiinnnnnngg.
You know, I just realized I haven't updated you on the previous roommate situation. If you've read of the drama from our past living arrangements, then you know what I'm talking about. I'm grateful to say that it has been resolved. At least, it has been with the girl I'm close friends with, and that's what had been burdening my mind anyway. The other hasn't spoken to me since I last offered to meet up in person to apologize. So I've done what I can to make things right, but if someone isn't willing to do the same, it's impossible to reach a solution.

Thankfully, my best friend and I have come to a mutual decision to put this behind us, and it's such a relief. At first, I felt hesitant in believing how quickly she seemed to get over it. I'd expected to have a longer talk about what had happened. But her sudden forgiveness and my initial balking at it reminds me of how we have such a difficult time accepting grace. We want to work and earn everything we get, which is good - but sometimes, we have to accept that there are things that can be given freely.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God

Glad to hear that all things worked out with your bff, as for the others.. eh, it's their loss. Specially if they couldn't put in the effort to work it out

You are an amazing stylist even working for free (or footwear I suppose--is that where the pirate term "booty" came from :D) and that will be a skill you just keep growing as you learn and experience more. Good fashion, like any art form, is made stronger by experiencing what life has to offer, and I know you have already had your share and then some. I like your friend's skirt and that top looks fantastic on her. And you, dear senator, such a wonderful look. Yes, your boots are fancy and fun and match that bag like they were made to do so. Oh and that smile and double oh and those eyes. Lovely!

well its nice to hear you're able to sort things out with her... and hopefully the other girl comes around. im quite on the same page with you on the other girl since i have this girl too, who used to be my friend... and we got into a situation, and i tried reaching out to her already but didnt get a response.. so yeah, its impossbile to work things out if it's once sided. but at least you decided to be the bigger person and you know you did your part. anyway, love both these outfits and of course, forecer enying your shoes!!

that is one amazing present for sure! I love those boots and the way they match with every other piece in your outfit. the layering is wonderful too (those sheer layers are something I really dig) and Corina's fishtale is adorable! I love fishtales but can't make them, boo. so if you were closer to me then I would totally use your braid services, haha.

Fabulous ensemble Linda on yours and your roomie. Those boots are driving me wild. I love how the necklace and the boots had the same 'points'.

Glad things are at the point they are with the 'issue' that you experienced in the former roommate.

Thanks for being an awesome friend to me, anyway. ♥

Bahaha, I totally feel you. I do my friends' hair all the time! You did an awesome job on the fishtail and the outfit--Corina looks super cute! Totally loving that skirt.

You, of course, look super stylish! It's not so bad to be paid in boots, is it haha? I'm totally excited that they match your bag as well! Glad such a cute find came out of that thrift store trip too--that kimono is so perfect and flowy.

It's good to hear things are mending with your friends. I agree--you've done all you could and that's all you can control. I think you handled it with poise--it takes much maturity to admit mistakes.

Best of luck to you with your new year of college, Linda! I'll be praying for you!

I think that might be the only sensible thing you'll get out of me now, between your jewelry from the last post and these gorgeous, gorgeous boots, I'm just drooling over them! You've got such a great closet right now, it must be so much fun getting dressed everyday and seeing so many items that really reflect you. (Heh, I can never see a kimono top now without thinking of you!) you two are adorable and this seems like such a fun idea, it's fun having someone to dress up with and it's nice to have a model for pictures sometimes.
