Movie Fashion Inspiration: Now Is Good

One night, my good friend Kirsten texted me, asking if I was busy after work. I wasn't, so I swung by and we popped in a DVD she'd rented from Redbox. She couldn't remember the plot very well, only that it was something like A Walk to Remember.

Now Is Good is exactly like A Walk to Remember, only more...modern. The story follows Tessa, a leukemia victim who is angry and frustrated, but most especially with her parents. She compiles a list of things to do that she believes most every teenager has done. Falling in love with Adam, her neighbor, wasn't on the list, but it turns out to be the best decision she makes.

This movie was one where I could easily predict what would happen next, down to the next line, and how it would end. Albeit it still wasn't any less gut wrenching. Kirsten and I were sniffling and wiping away tears by the end. Dakota Fanning grew on me through this film, and how adorable is she with a pixie cut? Also, I found some new actor eye candy! Jeremy Irvine is fiiiiine.

What caught my eye however was Tessa's style. Its very laid back and yet stylish and effortlessly cool. Sounds like the type of look I envy, huh? I made some mental notes and decided to put together a post of my favorite outfits from the movie.
As you'll quickly find out, tights are a staple in Tessa's wardrobe - she pairs them with everything. This shorts + tights combo is a really cool way to transition from the hot summer to the chill of fall. Plus, who else is excited to bust out their boots?!
I added the edgy jewelry as a personal touch, even though Tessa usually goes without accessories.
This was Tessa's opening outfit. It immediately caught my eye, and I love how she toned down a sexy bodycon dress with a denim jacket and classic Converse! These are her shoes of choice throughout the movie, and I love how she always goes for these iconic sneakers.
This was the girliest outfit I saw Tessa wear, and it was something she had on while with Adam (her love interest) of course. She still keeps things neutral in color, although a slight pop of pink underneath hints at her enamored feelings. I'm pretty sure she actually wears Converse with this outfit, but I decided brown boots would match the belt better.

Anyway, what do you think about this type of post? I'm trying to branch out more, and noticing the fashion in movies or tv shows is something I do anyway. Hope you enjoyed!

Love this post, I hate it when I see an item of clothing in a film but can't find anything similar in real life.

I've got so many mustard coloured cardigans and jumpers, I think I buy a new one each year.

I really love the earrings in the first post and the red dress in the second, where are they from?

Not gonna lie, nothing Nicholas Sparks/ Nicholas Sparks-esque ever appeals to me-- but it seems like this movie does provide some cute outfit inspiration :)

Awww, I thought you were going to model some of these looks. Was hoping for those denim shorts and tights or that black dress at the end and tights oh there seems to be a theme here :) That being said, the movie sounds very cool. Would be curious to see Dakota in a role like that.

Aw, I love posts like this! Little outfit sets are just the best. I've never seen this movie before, but I do like the outfits you've pulled from it--especially the tights and boots combo. I've gotta try that with all the new booties I acquired this summer.

Aww the movie sounds really sweet and sad too, I think i would need a box of tissues. Her style is really cute and accessible, would love to recreate the set with the striped tee and yellow cardi.

And my goodness, I watched a walk to remember and I was bawling by the finish...I think I'd probably do that too. It sounds so sad yet so lovely at the same time.

I don't usually watch predictable, chick-flicks, but when I do, I am like you in that I am no less emotional. All that aside, her style in this movie is like that cool girl you know that always looks good even in the most casual of pieces. I am a big advocate of shorts and tights :D

Love this! I read the book. It was gut-wrenching. I literally could not stop sobbing. But of course, anything that evokes that much emotion must be good, so I decided to watch the movie. In the very. same. day. DUMB IDEA! So good, but I was hysterical by the end! I really enjoyed the outfits and love that you shared some outfit inspo! Love this idea and hope to see it more from you!!

How did I miss this post? Some movies are predictable and yet can still get you in the gut. I love Dakota Fanning especially now that she is older and wiser and still very talented. I love the Polyvore type items, too. Great post, Linda B. Great!
