We Sunk the River

So on Sunday, Saff and I traveled down to Boise to visit some old friends who were in the area and went on a mini adventure. It was so much fun and I can't stop smiling whenever I think back on the day we spent there.

It all started an hour late. Saff and I had slept in and were late in leaving by the time we said we would. It ended up being a good thing, because when we arrived two hours later at Jame's place to pick him up, he answered the door in a towel. Haha, so he'd just woken up and showered. He slightly dozed off in the backseat as we ventured toward Marissa's apartment to get her next. Apparently, she'd just woken up half an hour ago. So perfect timing in our lateness apparently!
After that, us girls dragged James around the mall a bit and we ended up doing a little shopping. Poor guy. He was quite patient though, and we determined that when he stops flirting with every girl he knows, he'll make someone a very good boyfriend.
Next, we ventured down to the main event of the day: floating the Boise river! We used a raft Jame's family had used, and patched it up with duct tape. That should give you an idea for how the rest of the trip went. See, it started off with duct tape...and it only went downhill from there.
Haha, oh man, it was so funny! We couldn't stop laughing at the ridiculous stares we got as we floated down the river, all four of us crowding the raft and using a baseball bat and our flip flops as improvised paddles. Everyone else was well equipped with fancy oars and paddles, and there we were, one of us pushing off rocks and branches with a wooden bat, and the rest frantically paddling away from the edge with flip flops in hand. The mini falls we went down on the way were rough on the butts of those in the middle, so we switched it up every now and then to prevent too much soreness. We emptied out a couple water bottles we'd brought along and used that to bail out our slowly deflating and leaking bottom. Finally, after two miles, we were forced to pull over and trek back to the parking site. We couldn't possibly have made it much longer. Still, it definitely made for a fun memory!
Next up, we made our way downtown for some pizza and ice cream. Marissa showed us this amazing alley that was filled with murals and stunning art work. I couldn't stop marveling at it all and wanting to stop and photograph every angle.  So beware: photo overload ahead.
With our ice creams in hand, we walked along a couple blocks just talking, laughing, skipping, and taking ridiculous photos. It was such a fantastic day trip, and I already miss those two. Luckily, I get to see Saff almost every day, but we're already hoping to visit James in Seattle next sometime. If that day arrives soon, I'll have to see if I can meet up with some bloggers in the area!
Anyway, that was our adventure in Boise. It was priceless and I already wish we could go back and relive it.
Hope your weekend was good! I'm trying to catch up in my blogging now, so I'll be making visits soon. Also, some exciting stuff is coming up for this blog. I can't wait to share it with you all!

That alley of art is awesome! There's one like that in Switzerland, and I spent much time snapping photos in there (several times over multiple trips). I can't blame you for photo overload. I'm so happy you guys had such a fun time in your ghetto raft haha. Floating down a river is always a good time, no matter the vessel :)

Yes, "duct tape" is hardly ever a good thing when setting sail, but it made it far enough for plenty of fun so that's great. Looks like a wonderful time, dear. Especially love that first picture, you are so pretty and your swimsuit is so cool. Perhaps an outfit post with it soon? And that alley is gorgeous. I so enjoy art expressed so openly and honestly. Thanks for sharing these great pics and glad you had a great time.

Duuuuude, Linda! I'm so excited/pumped/other words synonymous with happy for you for taking this trip. That's awesome, being able to venture out with some friends for a day of exploring and fun times. And your pctures are so rad. Props for you for actually taking your camera along and recording such lovely memories! All that graffiti is blowing my mind... isn't it amazing how people can do that with paint? Barely even planning it out or anything? Graffiti is really neat when it's not just a chintzy gang logo or inappropriate word, hehe. It's so sporadic and emotional and I love how the hair in one of them branches off into... branches... hehe. I'm getting carried away!

So yeah, yay fo you and I'm glad you had a fantabulous and safe time. :)
