There are days when the heat hits the limit, and you just have to say, "Screw it," to makeup and styling your hair. Same thing to dressing up. Instead, slip on your bathing suit, a comfy pair of shorts, and go wandering outside for hours with your best friend.
On Thursday, I spent the entire day with my sister from another mister, Kirsten. We took some blog photos (which will be revealed later), went tanning and swimming down at the local lake, grabbed some yummy frozen yogurt, and topped off the day by watching a local musical concert and taking a few photos with the stunning, golden hour lighting.
While at the lake, I dozed off a bit, but came to when I heard an unfamiliar woman say, "Okay, that's it, I have to ask." I glanced up, and a lady was crouched nearby.
"Can you please tell me where you got your swimsuit? It's awesome, and it's really hard to find cute one pieces."
That was a pretty sweet compliment, because I know I'm one of the few girls in this area who goes out wearing a one-piece. It's become almost an expectation it seems for girls to wear two pieces and bare everything they've got. If you feel confident in that, then I say go for it! However, I've never felt that comfortable baring my stomach, so a cute one piece is a must. Its what makes me feel more confident.
Plus, my confidence definitely got boosted that day. Wearing this swimsuit and shorts combo, I've never received more catcalls...it was rather embarrassing. Kirsten and I have a tradition of walking down to the lake, which is a little trek, but not bad. On the way back up, a van passed by and loud whistle came from within. We brushed it off, but then it turned out and the whistles continued! Um, oh dear. Then another car passed by and a guy sticked his head out, smiling appreciatively.
Then when we arrived back at my apartment, some other guy passing by in a pickup hollered out of his window, "Hey girl!"
It was the same guy who had seen me yesterday walking to school in a dress and shouted, "Sup girl!"
You can bet I'll be locking my doors at night! Haha, ah man, the heat of summer can make people delirious. But I love this time of year. The feel of the sun's warm rays soaking my skin, cool lake water brushing my toes, and the many laughs shared with friends are priceless.
I hope your summer's going well!
