It Doesn't Matter Where You Go, It's Who You're With

Tank: thrifted   Vest: Forever 21   Jeans: (thrifted) Gap   Wedges: c/o My Hot Shoes   Fedora: Pacsun   Bag: c/o Wholesale Dress   Necklace: c/o Estarer

I wore this last Thursday for a day filled with shopping, hanging out, and trying new food with my close friend, Saffron. She introduced me to a Persian place, and I got to try some new dishes! There's this drink called Dough (pronounced "dew") and what a weird concoction! It's made from yogurt, water, salt, and mint. As Saffron said when I pushed my cup towards her, "It's an acquired taste." Then she gulped it down like water.

I still remember when our friendship formed in the seventh grade. I was the awkward new girl who couldn't be social to save her life. My nose was always stuck in a book and all I wore were Bobby Jack t-shirts (anyone remember those?). Bus rides home were spent with me turning through the pages of a paperback, completely oblivious (or purposefully ignoring) my surroundings. However, it's a good thing I loved reading; as it turned out, Saffron was a bookworm too! We started talking about our favorite novels, and it just developed from there. Now, I can't imagine how I would be without her in my life. She's basically my sister, in this life and in Christ.

Remember how I raved about these boyfriend jeans? Yup, still gonna rave about them. They're so freaking comfortable. For a girl whos closet is filled with skinny jeans and jeggings, I love how loose these are! However, the only problem I have is that it's absolutely necessary to wear heeled shoes with them. Unless you are a 6'1" model with legs for days, they look ridiculous with flats. At least, they do on me! Ah well, just means I get to utilize my excessive "impractical" shoe closet. Speaking of which, it's so massive that I lent my tribal blue wedges to Saffron for the day. They matched her skirt too perfectly not to. Haha, I think I'm going to have to start a "Rent My Closet" agreement for when I move out. Otherwise, I have a sneaking suspicion shoes and clothes may randomly go missing...

Oh gosh, Linda, I was totally the socially awkward person in school, too... when you said that you had your nose stuck in a book on the bus ride home, all I could think of was how I either stared out a window with my headphones in my ears (listening to Japanese pop of course) or playing Pokemon. It's funny how these things overlap with us!! :) That's so lovely that you and your lovely friend Saffron have so much in common and have been able to keep that friendship for so long, aw!

I gotta say I love your outfit. I feel like lots of things can't be worn with flats (pencil skirts!) and so I know what you mean. :D But gosh, I love that orange flippy vest and your super neat globe necklace! I'd take this outfit from ye if I were a pants-wearer myself.

I think everybody was socially awkward in school. I was also the girl that had her nose stuck in a book. It was always Harry Potter or Twilight in my teens years xDD.

Your outfit is so simple and really love it especially your necklace. I really want it :D

Another great way of styling the BF jeans, I have to agree about wearing heels with them if you're not too tall. You're so lucky to have a wonderful life-long friend like Saffron, as she is so lucky to have you too! You both look so pretty. I have never tried Persian food before, sounds really interesting.

Spending a day with a good friend is always a good day. I love my BF jeans too, but you're right, they need the right pair of shoes to go with them. I pair mine with my Topsiders since I can't wear heels/open toed shoes at my work.

You and Saff are both such cuties. And your look is beautifully casual and comfy. How amazing is your hair like that? And your little globe necklace adorable. Plus, those lovely shoulders back out to see. That is always good news :) Did you ask them if they were going to try and bottle that drink and call it Mountain Dough? :)

I love how you wear the boyfriend jeans with the heels! I've been searching for one for so long. And that necklace is the best, soooo cute!

That's so cool how you and Saffron have been friends for so long. I'm pretty sure if we had school buses here, I would also be reading a book. haha i'm not exactly the most outgoing person although I sometimes wish I was. And woah that Dough drink sounds really interesting. Would love to try it if I ever go to a Persian restaurant.

That's so awesome that you have a really close female friend, those are hard friendships to come by are really are to be treasured. (That Dough drink sounds....interesting. I'm trying to wrap my mind around the concept of it and I'm just not quite making it. But it sounds like it was a fun meal!) My sister is the same way about my clothes and shoes, they disappear fast!

I think you really can rock the bf jeans like no one else. The look so cool and casual on you, you've got this great mix of bohemian and androgynous look going on and its really awesome. (THAT NECKLACE! dude, its a good think I live way up here because I would totally be like Saffron and barrow some of your cute stuff!)

Oh my god, that necklace is so cute =) GIVE IT TO ME.

It sounds like you have such a lovely friendship with Saffron! Apart from her making you try the yogurt/minty/drink thing. That sounds disgusting, please say it was alcoholic at least? Then it might redeem itself a little bit in my eyes!

You seriously have the best casual outfits, how do you manage to make casual look so darn chic?! and i still have best friends from the 7th grade, too- it's hard to find friendships like those :) We're all joined at the hip.

And that Dough drink sounds super weird haha ohhh our limited palettes ;)

I highly doubt that they look ridiculous, you know. I think you're just being extra critical.:) But they do look great with heels, there's no doubt about that.

You've been friends with Saffron for a very long time, that's a great friendship to have... And to cherish.

Boyfriend jeans, fedora, side braid, nerd glasses. I could not love this outfit more.

p.s. - I have the same problem w/ bf jeans & flats, too...I look short and wide. But I have a little trick to remedy it - you just roll the cuffs up a little higher (right below where the calf starts to get wider) to give the illusion of more length in the leg...at least I think that's what it's doing...I hope! ;)
