SLIDER

A Vagabond Princess

Dress: c/o Dressestylist
Barefoot in the middle of the road, wearing a princess gown reminiscent of Belle's from Beauty and the Beast - yup, that'd be me. Its a good thing it was an abandoned dead end area out in the middle of the country!

I decided to add my summery boho spin on this dress by wearing a light, floral kimono and went sans shoes. I loved it! Nothing felt more carefree than that. The juxtaposition of the gritty road and this elegant dress made for a fun photography opportunity.

Speaking of, my digital photography class has come to an end, but its opened up some doors. It not only expanded my viewpoint on taking photos, but made me take note of certain technical aspects. I still need more practice, but apparently, others have noticed my photos. I was approached by my high school coach to be the photographer at her wedding! It won't be until September, but she was thrilled I said yes, and it definitely made my week. I can't believe it - my first real photography gig! She said she'd pay me, I just have to name my price. Now to think of a reasonable number...I really have no idea how much I should charge. Any suggestions? I'll be having two other girls helping me out to take pictures, but I was told that I'd be the main photographer. I also plan on doing some touch ups to the best ones. Has anyone done wedding photos? How much would you say is a good price?

So last Friday, I had a long shift at work that ended with a night at the drive-in movies. I'm so happy my area has one of the few remaining drive-ins left! I finally saw Iron Man 3 (eeee! Robert Downey Jr!) along with Oz: The Great and Powerful. However, my lack of circulation made me a freezing mess, to which my friend Saff told me, "Your boyfriend is going to be one happy guy." And then she lent me her hoodie, since she's a thick-skinned Idaho gal and couldn't stand to watch me shiver my way into a cold.
Who needs a date when you've got friends like these?

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
Psalm 139:9-10

Your dress is gorgeous! Lovely pictures :)
I thought Iron Man 3 was amazing... it was a bit darker than the first two though, but I loved it.

Linda, that dress looks so awesome on you. I love the color! Your photos are exquisite. I can see why they want you to photograph their wedding. What a great offer! That's a possible career or part time work! So happy for you. I love nostalgia. Drive in's are so nice. It's great to see some places still have them. Have a great day!

suggestion: call more than one local photographer and ask their prices.

My ydd had a mediocre photographer at her wedding and it was $1000. Ya. We thought she would be great but we should have gone with the $3000 gal, I knew. Just saying.

I love these photos today. I was noticing the photos more than the outfit. Then I had to go back and see the outfit. That means you have a great eye and photographer. Do you do your own? Don't you have a friend doing yours? I'm puzzled now.

take care! (hug)

You are indie/boho Belle. The resemblance is uncanny :) That is probably one of the highest compliments I could ever give as my obsession with Disney princesses is out of this world! Girl, you look stunning. These pictures are amazing. I'm so happy for you and the wedding! My sister charges $900 - $1500, butttt she has been doing it for awhile. I think her first wedding she charged $500, which was pretty cheap. Talk to your back up shooters and the bride and see how much her budget is. Don't forget to consider how much time and money it will take you to edit and put together the photos! You should check out my sisters website (http://haleychristine.com). I think it might have package info and give you some ideas!! Also feel free to email her with any questions...she's very sweet and loves photography talk:)

Beautiful gown .. Too bad I've heard too much of horrible experiences with the shop, and wont be doing business with them.

Hmm I guess few hundred dollars? Depends on how long day you have at the wedding, and how many photos you have to edit afterwards. 15-20 $ per work hour ?

Indie by heart

Eeeep, Drive-In movies!! I forgot how much fun those were. I'm glad you had an excellent time at those--and that your lovely friend let you borrow her jacket. ;) Hehe! Robert Downey Jr. is totally a catch. We can man-crush on him together. He is only 48, you know. With our ages combined... that is ALMOST how old he is. GUwahahaha!

Man, this dress is so elegant. You really do look like a pretty princess. That light yellow color is stunning against your dark hair, Linda!! <3

Wooo, congrats on the photography gig, that's pretty exciting stuff! That's going to be a ton of fun for you! Are you going to develop the pictures yourself or are you thinking about taking them to a printer? (And I guess I should ask, film or digital? I guess everyone's digital by now, but I'm apply for a few jobs this summer that are lower key and the couples want a photographer that isnt too spendy, but it's like ak, so much to figure out.) Youll have to let us know how it goes!

And of course, man, this outfit! My favorite image hands down is the shoot of you walking towards the camera with just your feet and legs in the shot, it's really striking and is a fabulous pictures. This dress is gorgeous as well, the pleating around the bodice with the floral belt is really well made! (Haha, everything about this is pretty.)
