Let's Get Real: Dear Boys

(Its official. I'm making these type of posts regular features. I come across so many random things that I can spiel a rant on or give an in depth post on, so it's time I started sharing my thoughts! I've enjoyed the amazing feedback you all give me, so I hope you enjoy these).
Dear boys...why must you make us girls so crazy?
I know each girl faces or has faced different situations, so I'm going to write up a few short notes to the boys that have been in my life.

Dear First Crush,
Remember that book you gave me for my birthday in third grade? I still have it. Hey, The Black Stallion was a classic after all. Anyway, just wanted to give you a shout out and say that even at a young age, I can now say with confirmation that I had good taste. Yes, that Facebook profile picture update you recently added? I saw that. And my oh my, I just have to say that I knew I saw potential even when we were eight.

Dear First Guy Friend,
I still remember giving you crap for going easy on me while playing foosball - and then how you utterly destroyed me afterwards. Thanks for that. Oh, and for showing me how to make a quesadilla. Its come in handy. I'm just sad our developing friendship was cut short. You're a good guy.
Dear First Flirtationship,
You're just lucky we ended up becoming the closest of friends. When I first started my sophomore year at school, you caught my eye and your Class Clown ways definitely made me laugh my way into a crush. Those flirty texts didn't help either. However, when I realized just how many other girls were getting similar messages, I'll admit I went frosty on you fast - it took a year for you to worm your way back into my good graces. But I'm glad I got to know you better throughout the years, and I miss you, my brother from another mother!

Dear First Boyfriend,
I'll be honest - I look back at our relationship and feel...disgust.
I want to be gracious. I want to be eloquent.
But what you gave me in this "relationship" was lies piled upon more lies.
Oh, and drama. You stole my time and wasted it.
All I can write is that I wish you and your wife the best

Dear Cooks at Work,
Thanks for all the flirtatious comments - I can safely say my self confidence may have been boosted by that. Plus, you've helped me work on my zingers. Glad we've been able to build a playful work atmosphere.

Dear P,
You opened my eyes to what a real relationship is. You showed me how terrifying and exhilarating love is. You made me feel beautiful and like there was more to me than met the eye. You also showed me the depths of heartbreak and how lonely it can feel.
However, what I've come away with from our time together is more valuable than you can imagine. I am nothing but grateful for the time we had together and the strength you helped me develop. I still care deeply for you and can genuinely say that I hope you find your path in life and that God will use you mightily - I know that's what you want, and I believe He has great plans for you.
Your parting words still ring in my ears, and I won't forget them.
"Just promise me you won't settle."
Don't worry, I won't. You set the bar too high for me to do that.
Dear CG,
Why do you have to smell so good? Oh, and sit so close? And smile so cutely at me? Okay, let's just cut to the chase: WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO DOGGONE CUTE!?
Sigh. Just make up your mind. If you want to take me out, ask. If not, stop sitting by me every chance you get, smiling oh so flirtaciously at me, reaching over to leave me doodles in my notebook, walking with me in between classes...and wearing that cologne.

Dear Cowboy,
If you wish to pursue girls that you meet in grocery stores in the future, here's some advise: DON'T BE SO CLINGY RIGHT OFF THE BAT! It's creepy.

You're out there somewhere, I know it. I'll probably have to write a few more rough drafts before I find you,  but when I do, it'll be one of those magical The End moments like the Disney princesses get.
Okay, and then we'll probably have a ton of extended editions involving your impatience with my fussy, fashiony ways and complete inability to cook. However, I'm sure you've got your quirks too.

That turned out to be a lot more notes than I'd intended...whoops.
Hope you were able to gather or relate to something from each one - or at the very least, were entertained. How many notes would you have written?

If you'd like, write your own note to someone in your life or past that you'd like to vent/gush about in the comments below!

The last one sounds like me and my Hubby :) He has to deal with outfit photos and my inability to cook but he loves me none the less :)

I could probably dedicate an entire blog to the people I've dated. HaHaHa Linda, this was really nice. I love "frosty on you fast". I couldn't help but chuckle at that line. My prayers are that you meet someone awesome! You deserve that. Very nice feature. Have a wonderful weekend.

Aww such cute notes - some really funny ones!

It's true though, every relationship we go through teaches us something we can use for the next one. Even if it's painful lessons sometimes. Many times, we need to repeat those same lessons a few times before it sticks in our head! Breakups/getting back together is a great example of that! haha.

Just know that after I decided I'd had enough of stupid guys and wrote up a list of what I'd want my perfect guy to have....a little later my perfect guy came into my life. It was eerie actually when I found the old list and read over it! I truly believe there is a perfect match out there for everyone :)

Haha, I love your fussy, fashiony ways! I think you should ask CG yourself. Why wait for him to get up the courage? ;)

Here's my note to a boy from the past:

Dear Dannyboy,
I'm sorry that you thought I was too much for you to handle. I was wise and fearless beyond my years, while you were comfortable living the unexamined life. All I can say is I wish you and your fiance the best.

Similar theme to yours there. Lol.

I really liked this post! Keep 'em coming. :)

It just goes to show that even if someone wasn't a necessarily good influence, they did teach you something, I supose.

And I hope this CG guy makes up his mind, too! It's like a cliffhanger in a book or something. Come on, dude!!

Aw that was a cute post! Boys will be boys. Can't do anything about that haha. I know that people say its a waste when things turn out horribly in relationships but from my experience, I try to be more optimistic about in. In the end, you realize that it wasn't a waste because you learn from every experience. You just hope you won't make the same mistake twice.

That's crazy how you remember everything though! I have such a bad memory but I guess it helps when I want to forget things.

Linda, I totally loved that post! totally. I recognized most of the dudes from your previous posts and I like your note concerning P. oh and if you really like CG, ask him out yourself! or just talk to him, don't torture yourself ;)
I'm not going to leave my note here because pretty much all of my previous guys have sucked and I guess I just had a terrible taste in dudes, haha. yeah, they all sucked and I'm glad I left them behind and met my fiance.

Haha this is so funny because I've just had my first real "boy trouble" this past weekend. I've had a crush on this guy for 2 years, and recently he was texting me, flirting with me and then I found out he was also talking to another girl, who he's about to date. It's just that this boy was the first big crush I ever had, and I think I might have liked the idea of him more than the actual him.

Oh well, some boys are just not that nice. Feels good to vent!

Good luck with CG, I hope he makes up his mind!

This post is just super super cute... I totally had to reminisce and think about boys that previously became a part of my life. after reading this, i badly want to make up a post just like it.. but i cant because I think Penguin will be furious because he doesn't know about all the boys from my past and i don't think he wants to, haha. But you, you just made me feel like a giddy teenager all over again. =)

Dude. CG needs to be smacked up side the head, he's missing out on a good thing.

I just adore a good little rant but I think this is just absolutely sweet and wonderful. Your letter to P just melted my heart, you have such a way of seeing things so clearly and seeing the good to everything. I think that's so wonderful that you've always had such nice things to say about him, the guy who eventually catches your attention is going to be one very lucky man. (And I seriously mean that, you are SUCH a sweet and kind person. CG is just a dip for taking so long to figure this out.)

And yesssss, the Black stallion is such a classic. I still have mine, all dog-eared an everything.
