Hemlines on the Rise

Jacket: thrifted   Top & Bag: Rue 21   Dress (worn as skirt): c/o Too Sexy Store   Boots: Target
Ring: c/o Too Sexy Store   Bangles & Cuff: Philippines

I feel like I haven't been staying on top of things lately. I even had this post go up and forgot to write a text!
Haha, so this is a new dress from Too Sexy Store. The hi low hem is such a favorite cut during the warm seasons. What a fun twist on the maxi length, right? This dress is quite fitting too, so I felt like it was quite flattering. Paired with some desert boots and a tribal bag, I feel like going to a music festival...if only I could!

Also, isn't this heart ring just the cutest thing? I adore the reference to our generation's way of making a heart through the computer. Haha! <3

Last night I went to Chi Alpha again and got to enjoy a good time and fellowship with others. Afterwards, they invited me to go to Buffalo Wild Wings, and I knew I shouldn't have accepted...aha, I got home really late and am running low on sleep again. I need to start getting to bed earlier! Lately I stay up so late and run on 6-7 hours of sleep during the day. It may be the stress that's gotten to me, but I find it difficult to fall asleep. In fact, most of the time, I don't want to. The thoughts that go spinning through my head are impossible. Any suggestions on what might help me fall asleep?

The Lord—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath

Ooooh yeah, Linda! This skirt is so cute (and a little bit sexy, you know, just enough ;D). I also adore the color of it... a slightly muted lavender. I find that hi-lo things can be difficult to style, but lately I've been seeing lots of different ways that people have worn them, such as this! I would have never guessed a cropped jacket would look so nice with one.

I love the gold jewelry! And the color of this skirt is super pretty, I love grey-lavendar hues. Plus, that bag is SO adorable!

You just always get it right, don’t you?
This is so stunning - I love the mix of textures a lot! And your hair looks so pretty, too!

Have a wonderful week,

That is a seriously sexy silhouette on that hemline girl! You look really great. I adore your feather earrings-I have a similar pair but it isn't summery enough for me to pull them out yet-they look so pretty against your dark hair! Ugh, I've struggled with sleep since I was in middle school. I usually get around 6 hours or less by the time I fall asleep. I'm sure you've tried this, but the only thing that helps me fall asleep is talking to God about my day. It calms my rampant mind down a bit and I'm able to relax :) Hope you get some sleep soon!

Ok everything about this outfit is perfect! The purse, the skirt, the jewelry - ah you look great! x, Kat

Oh man, I hear you about the not being o top of stuff. It seems like it's just been a really busy spring but I guess it's that way every year. It sounds like you had a fun night, sometimes it's worth losing sleep over hanging out with cool people,it sounds like you're having a really fantastic time with this bible study class! I have a pretty similar problem with falling asleep, either I'm so pooped that I pass out on the couch or I lay in bed with a million things running through my mind. One thing that works for me is to stop thinking and focus on relaxing my body, one part at a time. It sounds silly and stupid, but it actually works really well.

I really love this color palette, the soft purple with the brown boots and the black top is so gorgeous but really unexpected. (That dress! That's how a high-lo hemline is suppose to look, I think it's the simple streamline shape and the material that makes this dress so great.) And your hair! Ahhh, I always just but you have the prettiest hair, it's so perfect for a fishtail braid.

Love the cut of the skirt with the booties! Aww sucks you can't sleep :( I like to read until I go to sleep, or read some realllly boring school work-- then sleep comes so easily lol

Linda, you totally look like you should be at Coachella in these photos! You look fantastic! I love that dress/skirt, the color is perfection! Oh, and your hair?! LOVE IT.Every time I fishtail or even braid my hair it falls out and is all over the place! It looks so pretty with the ombre too!

I do the same thing with sleeping. Waking up in the morning is the absolute worst! Try drinking some sleepy time tea and taking a bath. This always works for me! I also found a really soothing lotion, that I only use around bed time that refer to as my sleepy lotion. It smells amazing and for some reason every time I put it on after a night bath, I am ready for bed!

This dress is so pretty and looks so nice fluttering in the wind! Your new edgy boho look is so awesome :)And ahhh the bit of lace in the back of your top is such a pretty detail. Hmmmm I had that sleeping problem too! What I did was drink chamomile tea and write down everything that I was thinking in my head into a journal so that I don't need to think about it while lying awake in bed.

Such a lovely dress, I like it with the tee layered on top :)

I find listening to music helps me fall asleep - when I'm travelling I always have a relaxed playlist on my Ipod so I can drift off to sleep. Without it I have trouble sleeping in new places sometimes.

workout always helps. my everyday life is quite stressful too, long workdays, doing stuff at home after work and so on but I end my day with a workout (and watch a show from my laptop at the same time ;). and I fall asleep instantly when I hit the bed. you should try that too.
the outfit, btw, is awesome again. I especially like that fun bag but also your accessories and the layers. you sure got some great goodies from your trip! ;)

Linda! This outfit is perfect! Festival is the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it. Everything about you looks amazing - the dress, the boots, that awesome bag, your fishtail braid (love!), and even the wind lol.
I've also been having trouble falling asleep lately, too. Frustrating, ain't it? What I do that sometimes works is to just take really deep relaxing breaths - sighing it out just relaxes the body and hopefully the mind as well. And funnily enough, sometimes if I'm really having trouble drifting off I start thinking about outfits! I'll plan the next day's and if I'm not asleep by then, I'll just start imagining outfits that I'll wear whenever. I think it's safe to say that this blogging thing has fully permeated my entire being at this point :)

Also, sorry I've been so lax about commenting lately; I've still been reading your posts and ogling your outfits - just in silence :)

I just love the high-low hem on you, Linda. It always makes for such a relaxed, carefree look. And how cute is that ring??

I am with you, I feel like I'm losing my mind too! Not too much longer left the semester though, right?

Hi Lovely, thanks for your kind visit! I really like the idea of a dress as a skirt and love that you added a denim jacket with this boho-chic outfit, definitely Coachella material! As for trying to sleep, I try and avoid caffeine after 4, this includes tea. Warm milk does help or you can try a few drops of Rescue Remedy, its all herbal. But do you know what Always works - reading a textbook, preferably a boring one, lol. Happy Friday!

SaraM said...

I agree! That skirt is soooo flattering!
As for sleep, I wish I could help, but I have the same exact problem... I usually only get around 5-6 hours a night, because I can't fall asleep until really late, and I wake up really early and can't fall back to sleep. So frustrating! Hope you find an answer!

Falling asleep when you're stressed is always much more difficult. BUT I have found that when I'm stressed and need some sleep, I try to write out things and get the worries on paper. Then I "unplug" so I can just mellow out. And if all else fails, I have taken melatonin (a natural herbal supplement) so I can help get some snooze in. I avoid real sleeping pills since I don't want to go there. =)

Cute outfit btw. Love the layering
