Zoo York

I'm definitely experimenting with a grungier style. Still adding pops of color with accessories (beanieeeeeees!), but everything else is getting darker. I'm not sure if my style is evolving or if it's just my blackened love life wiggling into my closet. Haha, either way, I think I like where it's going.
Tee: thrifted   Jacket: (thrifted) xhilaration   Skirt: Rue 21   Tights: Target   Boots: c/o My Hot Shoes   Beanie: Debs

I spotted this t-shirt on one of the racks at my favorite thrift store and I knew I had to have it. Something about the cool graffiti print drew me in. I'm glad I got it too - I played "dress up" with it once I got home, and it goes with a lot. It adds this perfect, edgy-casual touch to everything. This tee is definitely going into my suitcase for my upcoming trip.
So on Thursday, I went to my old friend Jesse's house to meet up with him and a couple other classmates from my graduating class. We'd always been a tight knit group, so it was exciting to see everyone again and catch up. I forgot how fun they were!
It was so good to see my old friend Kevin again - he'd gone off to Colorado for college, so I haven't seen him around like I have with the others. We met up at Jesse's house and spent about five of the six hours we were there just talking around the table and goofing around. Oh man, it was great swapping college stories. Haha, there are some epic moments we've all had.

At one point I was curled up on the living room couch, just dozing off a bit since I was so tired. Then Rueben came over and smothered me with a pillow, which prompted a round of pillow fighting and general rough housing. I've told you these guys are like my brothers, right? Haha, I might be an only child, but since being adopted into our class family, it certainly hasn't felt like that!
It was an uplifting feeling to know that even after a time apart, we could all meet up and act just as close as we were during our high school years. Its rare to find that, and I love that I've gotten to experience it. Who else is part of a class like this, right? Jesse was joking about how it was our first class reunion, and it hasn't even been a year yet - it's just our biannual reunion. As we slowly trickled out the door after a round of hugs, we discussed how we would have to plan for another one soon. Hopefully this summer if everyone's free again.

So on a completely different note, mom and I leave for the Philippines tomorrow night -

I just recently met up with my friends from high school for our annual Christmas potluck and felt the same way! I love how some things never change with your best of friends :) And I also like the grungy direction your style is heading because I love the pop of color and all that leather!

It's amazing that you have such wonderful friends, the best kind are the ones you don't see for a while but are still able to pick right back up where you left off.

I really like the grungier aspect that you're style is taking on! I've always really loved the grunge look but after so many years of wearing the typical 90s grunge uniform, it's nice to be able to wear pretty dresses. I love how the loose tee shirt works with the shorter skirt and those awesome lace up booties. Good lucking with your packing and take care traveling! (And Merry Christmas since we're getting so close to it.)

AWe Linda! I love that you go and play dress up with your new items. :D YER ADORABLE. That is a smart idea, though, because I usually play dress up but only in my head... actually trying it on might help. :P hahaha!

But yeah,t hat top is so cool! It kinda reminds me of the Gryffindor emblem haha. ;) I'm an HP geek, jestabit. ANd I love what you paired it with--your style is becoming so very edgy and I just love it!

I'm glad you got to reunite with lots of your friends! It's so weird seeing how much everyone has changed in such a short time, isn't it? But everyone usually gets right back on track when they meet up again :) it's lovely.

you look great i love dark outfits with a splash of colour- i think its the colder months it just makes people dress darker to reflect the lack of sun.
