Ever have one of those days where you wake up with an outfit all planned out, and then you take one look outside and you immediately change it? Yeah, this was one of those days.

Sweater: c/o Wholesale Dress   Jeggings: American Eagle   Scarf: Aeropostale   Bag: Rue 21   Boots: c/o My Hot Shoes   Ring & Ear Cuffs: c/o Estarer

It started snowing soon after these photos were taken. So I layered up with this new, knit sweater from Wholesale Dress - which was of a much better quality than I was expecting. Then doubled the knit with my infinity scarf as well. I was perfectly cozy throughout the day.
So when I originally had this post typed up, I'll admit it was rather depressing. I had the lyrics to Taylor Swift's song "All Too Well" in between each pictures. Lines like: "And I know it's long gone, and there was nothing else I could do. And I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to"  were rampant. It described exactly how I felt. It still does.
But I'm retyping this, because my feelings have somewhat changed.
I'm still not whole nor perfectly happy, but I'm coming to a sense of acceptance with the way things are. This relationship didn't work out for a reason, and I'm certain there are better things (and guys!) to come. I just have to cling to that hope to carry me through and know that it's for the best. Now it's much easier to say that than to follow through with it, but I'm determined not to be a hypocrite with what I say on this blog.

So to end on a positive note, I came across this article entitled "If You Could Unbreak Your Heart Using Science, Would You? (Because Soon, It May Be Possible...But I'd Still Say 'No'" Naturally, due to my current situation, I was intrigued. It's interesting to think they've come up with a drug that could suppress memories, and I believe that could be helpful to those who need it (rape victims, soldier going through PTSD, etc.). But I agree with the author in that it's best not to repress memories that could strengthen you through bearing them. I like what she said at the end too, and I'm going to quote it.
"When you’re getting over heartbreak, no matter the sort, you change. You grow and build and are more apt to learn from your mistakes because right at that moment, those mistakes (and the mistakes of others, possibly) have left you proverbially bruised and battered, forcing you to pay closer attention to them. Eventually, that pain will go away and you’ll be left with something much better. The ache in your stomach will subside, the crying will switch from flood to trickle to gone and you will realize that your bed is not empty, because you are in it, and you are not empty."

That red and brown looks awesome on you! Those boots are fab! I love the buckles. You may not understand now, but later on down the line you'll look back and understand why it was not meant to be. There's someone better for you.

Hi Linda, the fact that you said you've found acceptance is a really big deal, you're on the right road to healing and the journey is a tough up climb but luckily you have those fabulous boots to do it in ;) Love the bag....and the wrote at the end, made so much sense to me

Well, I think the change in weather was a good thing, 'cause this outfit is so cute-cozy-ballin' girl! I like all your neat accessories and that scarf just looks cozy as could be!

Awe, Miss Linda, I'm so glad that you're accepting what's happened. You've learned a ton, I'm sure, and I'm just amazed at how quickly you've been able to adapt. You're quite inspirational because of that. :) I hope if anything troubling happens to me, I can be as strong as you, lovely lady! <3

Heh yes I had one of those today. I was going to wear a pair of new boots I have not worn yet. They were gifted at a blog conference I went to. But wow I did not realize how high they were. At 5'8" I do not usually wear heels higher then 3 inches tops! And these are 4.5 inches ah! So wore an older pair.

That last line is are not empty. Sounds like something from poetry, and I take Poetry as a class so I'm exposed to quite a bit of it haha! Anyway Linda I am so tremendously prooud of you and how honest you're being and how well you're handling this whole thing. I know I wouldn't be able to do it like you are! So just letting you know that you're one of the strongest people i know :)

On to the outfit--LOVE that sweater. it does look like good quality! I have a sweater from them too and it's a weird texture that i wouldn't even call sweatery. Can't explain it. Cute boots, too. My hot shoes all the way babaaaayyy! <3

Great giveaway! Love your outfit too! I rarely change my outfits as I don't have much time in the morning, but sometimes the weather forces me too!

The science idea and quote are very thought provoking. Reminds me of the movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" have you seen it? It's worth a watch, exactly what you were talking about in your post :)

I went and read the linked story, it's actually quite frightening! (The idea reminds me of a Dean Koontz plot, while it could be really helpful for some treatments, the likelihood of it being misused seems really high.) Painful moments in your life are a huge part of you and shape who you become, I've had some sucky moments in my life but they've (hopefully) helped me to become a better person. I think you've got a pretty good perspective on this and thanks for finding such an interesting story!

And yeah, I do that all of the time! I think about wearing a cute dress and them I'll look at the temperature and go yikes, not today! I really like how you've been wearing these ear cuffs, they look crazy cool on you and I love the little spikes. (It's so different looking, you really pull it off!)

This outfit looks cozy and chic. I'm glad you're looking up a bit more. I love that quote at the end. I tend to listen to super depressing music when I'm down too :) sometimes it's really comforting!
