I Want to Hear the Sound of Silence

Tank: c/o Very Honey   Skirt: Rue 21   Cardigan: Target   Bag: c/o The 7 Senses   Scarf: Aeropostale   Wedges: c/o My Hot Shoes   Ring: c/o Estarer

I've been on a Youtube kick lately and have stumbled across some new songs that I really like. For example, the title can be found from this song called Wings by Tori Kelly. Love that girl's voice and overall sound.
My color palette of late has been darker, but I still try to add hints of color. In today's outfit, I chose to do that with a pale pink tank from Very Honey and my bold blue bag from The 7 Senses. Plus, nothing like a cool bird print to freshen things up!
You know, the reason I enjoy fashion so much is because it gives me an opportunity to say something without having to open my mouth. And as a naturally quiet person, that's a powerful thing.
I think the darker colors I've worn lately represent my mood. Its not even a conscious decision that I'm making. I'm just drawn to the darker shades now. But no worries - I'll always have to add some color!

So...on Tuesday I met up with Patrick for one last final talk.
It was bittersweet. We exchanged items and some Christmas presents. We sat at a table and awkwardly chatted. It was so bizarre.
And incredibly sad to me. Because while he sat there talking to me, I couldn't help thinking how much I'd miss that. It's not just the "relationship" aspect of things, but the genuine friendship that I'm talking about. I'm going to miss sitting there talking with him and laughing over silly things.
I'll miss him being my friend.
But I know if I'm to move on, there's no way we could be that for quite some time. I'm walking down this trail by myself now, searching for that happy, independent, carefree girl from last year. I miss her.
Something I have to look forward to is my upcoming trip to the Philippines. It'll be just what I need to snap out of this funk. We leave two days before Christmas, and due to the time difference, when we arrive it'll be Christmas day! Haha, that fourteen hour time change is pretty trippy. It'll be so exciting to finally arrive and see everyone again. Its been two years since I last went, and that's just too long in my opinion.
Its so difficult having family that's halfway around the world. The time, culture, and language difference can cause a rift. But I've found that when both sides are striving to understand the other and make a connection, there is always one to be found. In previous trips, I've often been shy and quiet, and so have my cousins. However, if it takes being outspoken and bubbly to draw them out of their shells, so be it. Ha, I am not flying all the way out there to spend my time in silence and awkwardness! I did that last time before deciding to be the one who stepped outside of myself, and it worked. They responded to my goofiness and giggly nature with their own, and it was wonderful.
We have such an odd family situation.
Haha, now, the only question left is what to pack?

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials
(James 1:2)

PS: If you haven't seen it yet, check out my guest post on Twenties Girl Style - I did a "Yeah...I really own that" post featuring an ugly Christmas sweater I thrifted last year. Haha, go check it out here!

Hope you "see the light" soon- I know breakup a are rubbish and everyone goes throught them but as cliche as it sounds your better off without him so you can move on (although it will be completely understandable if you eat your weight in chocolate or do like me get really drink take off your bra in a toilet to give to a make friend to explain about cup sizes and have to be carried home)
You look fab I'm favouring darker colour ( I've always favoured darker so I'm not sure if its just seasonable) I live the pastel addition :)

For a moment I thought you were going in a Simon And Garfunkel direction with that title! (Actually a really killer song.)
That was nice that you two got a moment to talk, but I feel so awful for you two, it's so wonderful to have that kind of friendship within a relationship and I can tell from your past posts how much you love him. That's wonderful that you're going to be able to get away for Christmas and visit your family, that's so hard living that far away! Most of my extended family lives quite a ways away as well, we only get to see them every couple years so that time is always special. Good for you for going out of your comfort zone and putting your cousins at ease like that. I hope that you end up having a wonderful trip there and that you're able to come back feeling refreshed.
