Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Okay, seriously? This demographic is quite the eye-opener. Now I love my mascara and eyeliner as much as the next girl, but dang, I do not need to be spending this much money on it!

I think we need to take a step back and re-evaluate how much importance we place on appearances, eh?
Haha, and believe me, I am aware of the irony that I, a fashion blogger, am saying this.

But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
(I Peter 3:4)

lol I probably spend about $30 on makeup per year. Same powder stuff, coverup, mascara, and plain brown eyeshadow, maybe some of that needs replacing once during the year or so. I guess that's not too bad!

But hey, whatever makes people feel better about themselves, right? I think people should just enhance what beauty they already have, but honestly, whatever floats a person's own boat is what really matters--whether that be a little makeup or none at all!

this is totally true! i think we've spent to much money and time thinking about appearances. but hey, blame all the boys who prioritize beauty over brain and personality ;p

Well this is interesting, I never really thought about all the costs! But since I usually only wear make up sometimes when I feel like it so I probably spend around $30 a year but it depends on each person I guess.

Wh-oa, that is a lot of money for cosmetics! I'll admit that I'm pretty lazy when it comes to makeup. (I think I spend maybe $40 a year on it? I use two of the Revlon foam foundations a year, one mascara and then I might grad something from the cheapo Wet 'n Wild section.) The breast argumentation I'll give a slight pass on, I know a fair percentage of that is for medical reason like breast reconstruction after cancer and stuff along those lines, but things like how much money is spent on botox gets to me. I really agree with you on the importance we all place on appearances, it gets really silly and vapid feeling after a while, it's nice to take a step back from it all.

haha I will proudly admit I agree with one point in that info graphic - I would have more massages if I had more money (and time)! They are just sooo good!

The plastic surgery stats are sad though, we should all be happier in our own skin. So difficult to love every part of ourselves - I'm sure if we all thought we could think of one part we'd like to change, and that's not good.

We need to be more supportive of ourselves - and each other! :)

Wow, this was indeed an eye opener, gives a whole new perspective on our obsession with beauty. You're right, we need to stop focusing on outer appearances with this much importance.

Oh my , this is really an eye opener. I spend my own little savings on buying mascaras and cute lip glosses. Sometimes some skin care too -_-
