Fall Print Mixing: Stripes and Florals

Top: Debs   Kimono: Target   Jeggings: c/o Too Sexy Store   Boots: c/o My Hot Shoes   Necklace: c/o Sammy Dress

So I decided to make a 3-post series about print mixing. Because in addition to the last one, I did it twice more and decided I'd share some ideas with you.
And here I am, back in my favorite corn field. I just love using it as a background! Especially with these deep, purple jeans from Too Sexy Store. They stand out even more against the corn husks.
For this print mixing combo, I used florals again, only this time I paired it with stripes. The key to any print mixing is to keep a common color scheme in both prints. So even though florals and stripes aren't similar, they both have a shade of black, which makes them work.

And sticking with the black shade, I added my dark combat boots so I could walk comfortably on campus (and in this corn field!). Also, notice the necklace? It's from Sammy Dress, and I really like the cute little clover design. Aaaand, it's black, matching the dark colors in this outfit perfectly! Haha, so I do like to be somewhat matchy, even if my prints don't agree.

In college news, I'm doing a better job of staying on top of things. My homework is getting done, and I feel so much relief now that this week is over with. I had a major English paper due, along with an informative speech I had to give for Communications class. I met with my English professor, and she said just from glancing at my paper it was probably an A. Then after I gave my speech, my Communications professor told me I should seriously consider joining the speech/debate team at the college! Haha, that or a travel agency (I gave my speech on the Philippines). So that was pretty sweet to hear.
I've also signed up for the intramural volleyball teams my college is starting. I just can't get enough of the sport through my 50-minute PE class! Haha, I can't wait to start playing in games again.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this print-mixed post. Let me know of any other combos you've tried!

Ooooh, Linda! I love the mixing here! Especially adore the pop of purple from those pants. I've never been good at pattern mixing, but the way you put it about keeping the colors the same seems so obvious... so thanks for pointing that out! :D

You're gonna do so awesome in volleyball! Man, I wish my college had some sort of bicycle league or something... biking by myself every day is fun and such, but I'd like to do it with other people, too (cough men with beards cough)... hmmm, maybe they do and I just don't know! But yeah, I'm excited that you're excited for volleyball. :D :D

ps) oooh, turning evil children who come into your workplace into sandwiches? you clever girl, you. ;)
