Pumpkin Carving
I really want to start this post off with a heartfelt thank you to all my readers. Your comments on my last, stress-filled post were so sweet and uplifting. I definitely feel so much better than I did when I wrote that. Thank you for the encouraging words! I appreciate each one, and would like to extend a big cyber-hug to all of you. I'm pretty sure I'm not biased at all by saying I've got some of the best readers around! :)
Now, prepare for photo overload. I caution you now that if you're computer is slow, you may want to just skip this post. Haha, I wanted this entire experience documented, so we took a lot of photos.
So on Sunday, Kirsten, Patrick, and I went to a pumpkin patch and carved the pumpkins we picked out that night! For Kirsten and I, it was our first time ever doing that. I know, I know, we're bizarre. But we finally fulfilled that childhood activity and had a blast too.
Patrick said this was one of the best pumpkin patches he's ever been too, and you can see how the field seems to stretch out forever. We spent quite some time wandering the rows of pumpkins just trying to pick out the best ones. Oh, and as you can see from the first photo at the top, we had some fun while doing that :)
Then we had to pick out some gourds! There were some nasty looking ones inside that bin, but between the three of us, we managed to form an acceptable collage of gourds.
So after that, we headed to my house, and began the process of carving pumpkins!
We looked up design ideas on Google before picking out what we wanted to carve. Then the fun began!
Patrick and Kirsten picked out somewhat traditional faces to make. Me, on the other hand...well, not so much.
My facial expression below would express what I went through for the majority of my carving.
Patrick helped me out with refining my messy cuts, so it was a team effort. In that picture below we would be performing "pumpkin surgery." Haha, hey, when you see the design, you'll know why it was such a delicate procedure!
This would be Kirsten's pumpkin |
Here's Patrick's... |
and this would be mine. I'm quite proud. |
That's right. I carved Batman. It was all for the bragging rights. First time carving a pumpkin and I did the coolest super hero out there. Boo ya! ;)
Haha, all in all, it was a fun night that I got to spend with two of my favorite people. Hey, when you can hang out with your best friend and boyfriend in one night, you know it's a good one!
Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween!
