Park Excursions

Jacket: thrifted   Top: Rue 21   Shorts: c/o Oasap   Hat: PacSun   Sandals: c/o My Hot Shoes   Necklace: Vanity

Not gonna lie, I was pretty darn excited when I spotted this military-inspired jacket at my favorite thrift store. I've already come up with so many outfits I could wear with it. Plus, I've finally posted a look where I wore my fedora! Haha, I know that summer's basically over, but it's never too late to rock a fedora, right?

So on Wednesday, I went to Patrick's last hockey game. It was one intense match - I could barely watch the last quarter! His team was behind by 3 points in the last three minutes, and they played hard, but they ended up losing by 1 point. Ugh, one of those soooo close games.
Ah well, I'm just glad Patrick likes to keep as positive an attitude as he can. I know that with my ex, I didn't want to be around if he lost a game. He'd get all moody and pensive and I had no idea how to cheer him up or console him. But with Patrick, he just changed out of his hockey gear, talked with some of the guys, then came over to where I was and sat down next to me and said bluntly,  "Well...that was a rough game."
Then he shook it off, smiled at me, and said how glad he was that I came anyway.'s nice dating a mature guy for a change.
BUT, that doesn't mean we're boring. Not at all! Haha, man, you should've seen us on the car ride home from his game. It's about two hours worth of driving, so it can get long. After the game, he was so wiped out. We'd taken his car, and sadly I can't drive stick shift like he does - otherwise I would've taken over the wheel. So to stay awake, he bought a sugary snack, Redbull, and we cranked up some energetic tunes. Let's just say I'm thankful it was dark since our antics in dancing around to the music were pretty embarrassing. Haha, but that's something that I love about our relationship. It's still new, but we're not shy around each other or worried about keeping a good impression. We're completely ourselves.
As he said, "We're mature enough to be immature."

Sadly, there won't be any more "Patrick stories" for the next week or so. He's helping his friend move into his college dorm and they've gone on a road trip there. Which will be such a great time for him, I'm glad he's doing this! But I'll definitely miss him... aha, not to be some melodramatic teenager since it's only ten days, but I've been spoiled by his company.

But hey, just means I can focus more on this upcoming week - I'm starting college! AHHH! I'm a freshie all over again. It'll be such an exciting time! Although the sad news is that my presence on this blog might fade a bit with the upcoming year. I have a lot going on now. I'll be a full time student, working after school, and then hopefully I might have some form of a social life. But I'll be sure to reply to comments and still blog as often as I can.
I'm excited for what's going to happen on the blog this upcoming week...stay tuned and you'll find out. ;)

So anyway, as you can see, Kirsten and I were able to spend the day together when these photos were taken. Haha, it was a great day with one of my besties! We goofed around, caught up, and made more memories. There was this one funny moment where we were ready to leave, I had my keys in the ignition, when I realized I'd left my glasses behind! So hopping out, I said I'd be right back, and jogged back to where we'd been taking pictures. All of a sudden, my feet kicked up muddy water and I screeched at the sudden wetness! I'd totally forgotten about the flooded section of the park. Ugh, so by then it was too late to try and tip toe around the edge. My feet were soaked and I could hear Kirsten laughing all the way from the car. So I just decided to screw it and slogged the rest of the way.

Ah, good times spent with friends. Haha, they're always fun! :)
Hope you're all doing well, and if you've already started school, well...I'll be joining you soon.

Just kidding. Nobody will know you're a freshman. Everyone thought I was like a junior when I was a freshman last year. I hope your start to college will be suuuper lovely! <3 Don't forget about us! haha, nah, I'm sure you won't.

It's true though that when school starts, blogs tend to slow down... but hey, everyone slows down at the same rate, so it's kind of easier to digest, yeah? :)

You're right, it's never too late for fedoras! I hope you're gonna sport them in winter, too. ;) Still adoring those cute lace shorts of yours!

So much to say on this one blog post--I'm going to have to be short.

1. I'm glad you're in a relationship where you're both comfortable and upbeat.

2. Kudos to you for the thrifted find. I like wearing my mom's actual vintage Air Force jacket, so I can imagine the possibilities for your jacket.

3. I was crazy enough to start my blog in 2011 when I was taking 20 credits, working 60+ hours a week at my two jobs, and trying to maintain a semblance of a social life. I believe in you! Once you find a little bit of balance, you'll make it work.

I love that quotation: "we're mature enough to be immature" that is perfect! Because it's so true.

And you're right, it's never too late to wear a fedora! And hey, we still have another MONTH of official summer, so I hope the fedora sticks around :)
