A Twist of Teal

Tee, Skirt, & Belt: thrifted   Heels: c/o My Hot Shoes   Ring: Forever 21

When Joyce (of Joyful Outfits) had the idea to ask bloggers how they'd style some basic pieces, I was eager to join in and accept the challenge. You can check out her idea here. The more the merrier, I say! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's take on a white tee and black skirt. This is the look I decided on. After all, my blog's name is Trendy Teal, right? Haha, I had to use some of that signature color.

I really ended up liking this outfit too. A simple combination can go a long way with some touches of color!

Sooo, today was my second day working at my new job! Man, it was so much better than the first day. Haha, things went more smoothly by the end of today and I feel like I've got the hang of it. Next I'll have to learn how to work the register, but right now I'm still in training.
The first day was the worst though...I showed up and pretty much had to start working this job I had no clue how to do. It's a learn-as-you-go kind of training apparently. I was tossed to the sharks in the first five minutes! No clue what I was supposed to do and kept messing up. Oops.
And it didn't help that the girl who I was working with seemed to dislike me. I'm not sure what I did to earn her catty remarks, but I'll just have to learn to deal with it.

An example of what I'm talking about? Her name is Trinny, and here's a snide comment she threw at me...
Trinny: "So it took you a while to get hired. I mean, I came in one time and he hired me right away."
(I'd come in about four times to see the hiring manager before he gave me this job)
Me: "Oh...that's great. Was there an opening then?"
Trinny: "No."
Ouch. So apparently I'm a less desirable personality? Ugh.
But instead I just smiled as genuinely as I could manage and said, "Oh, that's awesome!"

Why do some girls have to be catty? At least she's the only one. Today I talked with a couple different people (just passing comments and what not), but they all seemed very friendly and helpful, so that was encouraging. I actually did enjoy my second day a lot more, probably because I hardly had to work with Trinny. I'm guessing she might've already told one of the managers she doesn't want to work with me (or maybe they noticed themselves), because when I checked the schedule, our shifts are always just an hour apart, so this week we aren't going to work together at all! Hooray! Haha

To release some stress though, guess what I'm doing sometime this week? Patrick invited me to go shooting with him and one of his friends! As in shooting guns! Which is awesome since I've told him a couple times how I've been wanting to do just that. Haha, this is Idaho after all, I might as well take part in some of the activities here. ;)

Very cute , btw I love the pop up colour on your outfit.
Be patient, new job is always feel harder and the day feels like last long(I was feel the same). when you will know your job and get along with the people everything is going to be fine. Just try to be nice to someone who you think doesnt like you because simply she don't know you n hope that going to be change.
Take care

That girl sounds rude! What's her problem? Girls can be so mean. Life is had enough as it is with living up to expectations and such so why make it harder for other people?? People just can't assume things about others and need to stop making everything a popularity contest. Sigh. It brings back memories of middle school. :(

Anyway, this outfit is lovely, and your take on the white top/black skirt challenge is awesome! I like how you've got those pops of teal with it--so awesome! You would match my dorm room right now if you walked into it next year. :D

I really really love that teal belt. It looks a little bit distressed which is cool.

Also, I've recently decided it would be cool to learn how to shoot a gun. Haha, I am in no way a hunter and hardly know any hunters so I don't know where this came from but hey, it would be an experience that's for sure! Have fun! :)

Dont let her get to you, Linda! You have a desirable personality, I'm sure!!! My parents always said that people who do that stuff are jealous. They're trying to get an upper hand that they otherwise wouldnt have! :)
This is one of my fave outfits. I love the pops of teal...they really do embrace your blog title! :)

I really like your outfit, are those shoes as comfortable as the original Litas? I've been wondering for some time now :)

And as for your job experience, it reminds me of what one of my classmates said a while ago. Her first day of work, she came to notice all those catty girls who looked down on her. She couldn't understand why they did that and couldn't stand working with them. A few days later, a newbie started working there and she noticed that she subconsciously started treating her the same way she has been treated. So, maybe it's a rite of passage or something? Haha, I can only hope it will keep getting better and better :) Good luck, girl!

aww i love that you incorporated your name color :D glad to hear the second day of your job went a little better, yes unfortunately there are some rude people out there, but i always try to remember maybe they had a bad day or are going through some tough things and that is why they are like that. either way you handled yourself very well!

Love your take on Joyce's challenge! :)
Sorry to hear you've had difficulties in your new job. Don't mind her. She only gives bad impression about herself, not you. It doesn't matter if you were hired straight away or not. The fact that you've tried hard to get this job and came over to the manager four times only means that you can take care of your own business and take it into your own hands! And that is great!
So chin up and work away! :)
Have fun shooting! ;)
Hugs!

Haha, I laughed so hard at your catty new workmate..but you'll get that all the time, swear..the best thing to do is ignore them, or, if you're me, talk back, but only when she really gets on your nerves! Haha, on second thought, you're a nice girl, ignoring is fine! Glad you're getting the hang of the job, I hate it when they don't teach you anything at all!

Anyways, I love this outfit of yours! The pop of teal is really awesome and I wish I had those shoes! Seriously!
I might go check it out, Im really in search of inspiration and a fashion challenge may just be it

LOVE how much the teal stands out with that b&w combo, and love your shoes, I think I already told you that haha. So good you don't have to work with that Trinny this week, I mean to start a new job is hard so you don't need any negative bitch around haha, the girl I used to work at the store sometimes said stupid things like those and sometimes was the nicest girl ever, so weird XD after I quit I avoided her as much as I could because is not good to have people like that around

How rude of someone to say that. There are really people in this world who are just inconsiderate and sometimes I dont think they even realize what they are saying. They talk before they think. It doesnt matter how long it took to get the job. You got it! So all is good. :) those are hot shoes by the way!
