SLIDER

Tropical Cool

This dress has long been a favorite of mine and I'm happy to introduce it to the blog for the first time! I remember picking this up at a garage sale a couple years ago (loooong before I started developing my style or got into fashion) and recognizing even then the potential it had.

Ring: Forever 21   Necklace: c/o Wholesale Dress

Has anyone noticed that through blogging your style has improved? I sure have! I now have a better sense of what works and how to dress. I'm not encouraging anyone to look back at my old posts (actually, please don't, that'd be embarrassing to me...aha), but compared to then, I can see a big change!

So anyway, with this outfit I decided to keep things more casual. This was worn for a day out in town with Kirsten. We went to see Snow White and the Huntsman, which was good, although if you're looking for more romance, the ending will disappoint you. I won't say more though just in case some of you haven't seen it yet. I've got to say, Chris Hemsworth is becoming my new favorite eye candy actor ;) Haha, something about manly men just does it for me!

Then afterwards, we walked around the mall and checked out the sales. I found some pink, hair clip ins and impulsively bought them. You saw a peek in the last post, but here's a better picture of what they look like.

I know, totally jarring with the rest of the outfit photos. Haha, but I had to show you.

So after that, we went to the big thrift store in town and man, was that a mistake! I need to stop buying clothes! Haha, I found a floral denim jacket, a pastel floral tank, and a neutral striped cardigan from Old Navy. All of which, of course, I couldn't resist snatching up.
Although, it may turn out to be a good thing...especially for you, my dear readers.
You'll find out what I'm talking about in the next post ;)

Finally to top off the day, we went to Walmart to get our snack of choice: Twizzlers! Have you tried the sour filled ones? Mmmmm, sooo good! Haha, I highly recommend them.

And I discovered how to trick my hair into staying in a fishtail braid! Apparently, it's much more cooperative when wet, so when I braided it like this right after a shower, it lasted throughout the day.

Haha, and the picture above would be me saying "Enough pictures! Give me the camera!"

In one of my favorite books, "Girl" by Blake Nelson (I totally recommend) the Girl from the title had a fish printed dress, which was her absolute fave, and it just came to my mind when I looked at your pics!
You look wonderful dear!

I think this outfit is very cute. The colors and all, very Spring.

As for style progression, I am not sure I notice much for myself. I do notice that I wear more accessories compared to before. I am pretttttttttyyyyy lazy. lol!

Also, to reply to your comment on my blog (easier for you to read).. I go to a state college. Not even a university! And the crazy thing?? California has one of the cheapest (if not THE cheapest) state college tuition. They have been raising it like crazy though! This fall is 10% more than last spring. :\

And I wouldn't take this class if it weren't a big requirement for me. It's also a very important pre-req for 2 other key courses. lol.. all BS to me though!! :(

And note for you! Sign up for financial aid SUPER early! I was able to get nearly $5k in grants (free money!) this year. last time i only got $600 lol (i applied a ~2 weeks before school started).

good luck, linda!

That dress could be soooo wrong, you know, but you totally made it look modern!! And by wrong, I just mean, I can picture some 90's mom wearing it while dropping her kids off at soccer games. LOL. You made it look really good with the sneakers and cute cardigan!

And congrats on doing the fishtail braid! My hair holds styles pretty easily because I have a lot of texture, and I love doing the fishtail. It looks good on you! <3
