Now, on to the outfit part of this post. :)

Outfit Details:   Tank: Jockey   Belt: Philippines   Skirt: garage sale + DIY   Shoes: c/o My Hot Shoes   Bag: c/o Wholesale Dress   Hat: JcPenney

There are certain outfits that you put on and it just feels right.
This is one of those outfits. I feel perfectly like me in this look. Floppy hat? Check. Crazy shoes? Check. Hi-low skirt? You betcha! Yup, this is so me. Haha, what do you think?

So the weather here had a change of heart, and yesterday was blustery and freezing! You couldn't tell now though, since the sun came out, almost as if in apology. We had to re-schedule that drive-in movie for tonight instead, since it would've been miserable if we'd tried last night.
Looking forward to seeing Men In Black III! Haha, any of you see it already?

I recently bought this gold plated necklace and I am seriously loving the statement it makes! Every time I wear it, it's as if I'm adding an Egyptian vibe to my outfit.

By the way, this is just a little observation I've made, but ever feel self-conscious when you're reading another fashion blogger's post, and they're going on and on about how yucky their hair/skin/nails/etc. are? Seriously, you're sitting there looking at their photos and think they look just fine, but then to have these minute imperfections pointed out, it's like 'Wow, how do others see me!?'
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like that sometimes. Seriously, I hear others go on about bad hair days and I think..."Well, I don't want to hear what you think about mine!"
Haha life's too short to try and have a perfect everything. Besides, it's inner beauty that truly matters. A girl's only as pretty as what's inside her.

Anyway, with all this sudden time on my hands, I've taken to my nerdy habit and checked out a lot of books from our library. I'm that girl that the librarians know by name and treat like a granddaughter. Haha, it's pretty great! I always get that reputation as a bookworm sooner or later, no matter where we go. I've always got my nose in a book. And if it's a good one? Oh man, you can't separate me from it.
Right now, I've stumbled across a piece of gold called Between Shades of Gray. It's a historical fiction novel about a girl and her family that are deported by the Soviet police to Siberia and struggle to survive in the prison camps. It's intense!

While I've been enjoying my downtime, the itch to get out and travel or do something is starting. It's been a rough year financially though, so we're trying to limit any trips (these gas prices are insane!) Hopefully we can scrounge up enough to go somewhere this summer though. Otherwise it could be a long and boring one.

I've even been making roadtrip outfits just in case! Haha, do you ever do that? Prepare outfits in advance for any occasion? I mean, I've thought about what I'd take if mom and I went back to visit the Philippines. Man, that'd be so fun. I miss visiting there! The environment is so jarring and different from the US, which I enjoyed experiencing. Those moments were precious to me. Actually, for you readers that didn't start following me until recently, you can read a post I did about my trip to the Philippines here! :)

And below is my lovely photographer for the day, mom! Isn't she just a cutie? You know, when she was younger and in college, many of the students getting a degree in cosmetology always wanted to use her as a model because of her bone structure! I think that's so cool. :)

Oh, and just to remind you, check out my newly opened blogger's closet, Feathers Fringe & Frills!
Thanks so much!

Your mum is beautiful :) I really like your skirt in these pics, it's gorgeous! The gold necklace and bracelets are a nice touch :)

I often wonder what others secretly think of my posts too - haha. I always take a couple of photos so I can weed out the worst ones but when my clothes are all wrinkled at the end of the day I wonder if they are thinking I don't iron things or something! haha. Like you say though, life is too short to have a perfect everything :)

thanks so much for your sweet comment, it is nice to know people can relate to these feelings sometimes. like the one you mentioned about other people mentioning the things they think don't look good. i agree it is always what is on the inside that counts, but even though i know how you feel thinking "well how do i look then?" i guess it is kind of nice to know too that other people aren't always as put together as they seem to be too :) that book sounds really interesting, those kinds of books can definitely be intense i read a book of a similar nature that i got at a secret santa at our work last year it was really good though! i love the necklace, it is definitely that extra added statement to make an outfit :)

Great outfits!!! Perfect with great weather i can see from here :D

Keep up the good posts girl :D

Your Mum is very beautiful!
Oh gosh, I have that also, but I just don't talk bout my imperfection in a hope that nobody will see them HA! ;)
You have to check out that "Girl" novel by Blake Nelson that I mentioned before. I'd love to hear what you think. It's a bit of a chick flick but kinda not. ;) Oh, I'm not the best at explaining stuff. Can you recommend some of your fav books? I also LOVE to read. Recently I read everything about English History (how nerdy is THAT, huh?), especially the kings and queens (with my fav Henry VIII Tudor).
Ok, guess I talk too much. Just wanna say you look great, love the skirt and the shoes, and the hat, and the bag, and...
Ok. I'm gone. Bye. ;)

Great post Linda, I really enjoyed reading this! Your mom is such a cutie; you're lucky to have had her as your photographer of the day! Loving this Summery outfit of yours too of course; the skirt & wedges in particular :)

As for what you said about bloggers sometimes putting themselves down for tiny "flaws", I think girls are hardest of all on themselves, & really don't have the same measure against other girls. Either way you've nothing to worry about - and I think it's wonderful that you can look beyond those things!

Thanks for the lovely last comment you left me by the way! And to answer your question, she did do the design for free, which was incredibly sweet of her :)

Aww...your mom is so cute! You two look a lot alike. :) I understand what you mean about blogger's complaints. Even though I am so proud of my body and what it went through to bring a child into this world, we all know that fashion is based around skinny people. And it does get daunting to read about skinny girls who complain about this or that. Seriously?? How about you grow up about 10 years, pop out a baby, and then complain about the way you look! LOL.

Just know, there are people who see your inner beauty and it shines in your photos! :) Anyway, love your floppy hat and that skirt color is amazing. You look very good in your "trendy teal". :P Sorry, I had to say that. LOL

first off, you're gorgeous. That's what i think of you. Secondly, who cares what other people think! as long as you're comfortable in your own body, that's the most important thing. (even though I am not always, I'm trying) and lastly, book worm, my recommendation to you is the book thief. it's amazing and my fav right now..
