LIFE LATELY // Confessions of a Shopoholic

Okay, they say the first step is admitting you have a problem.

I have a problem.

I cannot resist the urge to snatch up clothes when they are a bargain.

Maybe you're scratching your head, because you've always thought bargain shopping is a good thing. Well, it can be, but not when you're constantly looking at new inventory when you've already got a closet bursting full of clothes, shoes, scarves, bags, etc.

I'm rather ashamed actually by how far I've allowed myself to go. I mean, I always go to thrift stores and find items on clearance, and that used to be enough to justify my buying. However, I've realized how unnecessary and wasteful it is. I have so much already.

So, I am going on a shopping ban. At least until my birthday (which is February 10th) and after enjoying my day, I'm going back on it at least until spring. Because by then I could use a bright summery skirt....

Aha, so I'm publically stating on here that I will use the clothes I already have in my closet and learn to deny myself things. Because honestly? I really don't need anything more. Besides, this will challenge me to remix favorite pieces and come up with more interesting outfits using what I already have!

Who's with me?

Remember, the first step is admitting you have a problem ;)

Good for you!! I definitely have a problem, but I like my problem. LOL!!! I admire you for doing it though because I don't think I can go longer than 2 or 3 weeks without buying something. Especially with the Jason Wu for Target collection coming out on Feb 4th! I can't ban myself. LOL! <3

Good luck with your shopping ban! It's good now and then to stop buying and enjoy what's in your closet. Not that I'm the best at that, but I am trying to buy less! :P

I hear you on this! I am so bad about it. I've been trying to shop a whole lot less and remix from my substantial wardrobe. Good for you on banning yourself - it is helpful to set goals and stick to them!

Me too! But I have seen it worse than you could ever comprehend! I once went to an estate sale where this woman had not one, not two but SEVEN closets full of clothes! Not to mention the three bedrooms (small ones), four department store racks, and a garage full of more clothes! All vintage, most with tags (some said $1.50 for a dress!!!!) and all those tags had mark downs! Now that was crazy and gave me a healthy dose of shopper shock therapy, though it didn't cure me as I walked out with four boxes worth of merchandise! haha

Good luck with the shopping ban! I honestly would have been with you but I am on a rather involuntary ban instead, seeing as I have no money from buying too much at christmas, and have to wait to be paid! xo

That's so funny!

You know.. I end up buying way more when I say "No more shopping!" but I always try! So now I just limit myself.. the item has to be on sale or clearance. Preferrably at least 50%!

Hahaha, seriously!?
That's crazy!
Well, when it comes to things like estate sales, I'd definitely end up walking out with multiple boxes...oh man, summer time will have a lot of those! :)

Ugh, I know, it's gonna be tough!
Ha, that's a line I'm looking forward to as well. At least on my birthday I'll treat myself ;)

Yeah, it's like a diet, huh?
The more you restrict yourself the more likely you're going to slip up.
I at least want to start wearing more of the clothes I already have before I get something new though. This'll be interesting, that's for sure! Haha
