OOTD // Dress Code

First off, today is my parent's 31st anniversary, so I thought I'd start today's post dedicated to them.

They are truly blessed to have found their way together. My mom told me that, to be honest, they didn't think they'd last after the first year. They've always been complete opposites. I mean, my dad had to propose three times before they made it to the church. Haha, I'm not kidding! They were friends for years, and my dad always harbored feelings for her. She was dealing with another suitor at the time (I know, she was a hottie back in the day. She still is in my opinion!) so dad took a chance and proposed. The first time, she told him he had better find an American woman, one who could understand him better. But after searching in the States, he knew there wasn't anyone else for him. He came back and proposed again. At first, it seemed positive, but then the very next day they argued. The third time, they didn't even wait until the next day. They hopped in a cab and went straight to the church.
They always have been unconventional...
But they love each other deeply, share the same faith, and despite their differences, they realize how special the other person was.
31 years, all of it filled with adventure, romance, and growth. Truly, they've taught each other patience and self-sacrifice.
I love them both so much, and their marriage inspires me to find someone and share a life like they have.

Congratulations mom and dad! Here's to 31 more years!

 Aren't they just adorable? :)

So on to today's outfit post...

Outfit Details:   Sweater: vintage   Jacket: (thrifted) Korean Corner   Pants: 7 Jeans   Boots: gift   Scarf: mom's

This is the brown leather jacket I was talking about! Isn't it amazing? I love the cap-shoulder detail on it.
My fallback outfit almost always involves a scarf. So easy and simple. That and of course great accessories. I decided I'd bring out the purple tones in the scarf with these earrings and bracelet.

Ah yes, so the title of this post is referring to my school's dress code.
Ever notice how I never wear jeans?
That's because we can only wear slacks. No denim allowed. These pants are corduroy, so I can get away with them.
Dumb, I know. It can be quite annoying, especially when I want to tuck my pants into boots. That's impossible. Only way I can show off my boots is to wear a skirt.
However, in a way, I'm grateful for the dress code. It forces creativity in coming up with my outfits!

Well, first basketball game is this Friday. Eep! I'm already getting nervous.
